Question on moving a safe.

Since I will be headed to Dayton here in about 10 days and have been and will continue to move a trailer on each trip (Back and forth once or twice every week for other things), I think one of the next things I want to get up there is my safe. So have you ever moved your own safe state to state?

My safe weighs about 900 pounds without guns. What I am thinking is renting a Uhaul flatbed 8 foot trailer, mounting it on the trailer, putting all the guns in it, strapping it down and just doing a leisurely drive up.

Anyone see any problems with that? I am sure that is within the laws, since the firearms will not be accessible and locked in the safe.

I am interested to hear what anyone thinks could turn out to be issues.

Thanks

I don't like the idea of having anything in the safe. The amount of movement and vibration, all it takes is one gun moving in there to make you very sad when you open the door. Other than that... they're not fun to move! I don't know you but I'd recommend looking on Craigslist for a few guys to handle moving it on to the trailer for you and more when you get to your destination.

Safe empty.  Stuff will rattle around no matter how well you secure it.  What if you have a wreck/flat/strap breaks and the safe goes tumbling down the interstate?  Bring friends, beer, and an appliance dolly.

I thought about wrapping the guns up in bubble wrap or some heavy duty foam and strapping them down in the safe. Strapping the safe down tight and checking the load every couple miles at first, then maybe during a pit stop.

Since I am in process of moving, I have already moved most of my guns and ammo.

I will be moving mine soon.

Think of it this way, would you let your toddler sit in a double wide as it was traveling down I-40?

Can I use bubble wrap and tape? ;-)

There's no way I'd have anything in it during the move and a uhaul refrigerator/appliance dolly works out fairly well.
