Tea Party & Dems team up to squash stupid gun bill

While it isn't common, the tea party and the democrats teamed up to block some gun legislation in TX and NC. 

 

The political class is becoming increasingly abhorrent and brazen in their attempts to give themselves special rights while restricting ours.  It's no longer "for the kids safety," rather, "for the politician's safety."  As they say "“we face a higher degree of risk because we’re known and people might not like our opinions.”

 

I say vote the way your constituents expect and you have nothing to worry about.

Republican Rep. Stephen LaRoque tried to push forward with plans to ... allow anyone elected or appointed to a North Carolina public office to carry a handgun or pocket knife to any location in the state.

 

Separately, LaRoque went on trial this week, accused of theft, fraud and filing false tax returns.

Oh big, friggin' deal.  They are citing the case of one elected official.  One.  What percentage of regular Americans are the victims of murder or attempted murder on a daily basis?  I would bet it is a heck of a lot higher percentage than the percentage of 'elected or appointed officials' that realistically face such a threat.
