PopMoney (Paypal Alternative)

I'll admit, I still use Paypal sometimes. However, due to multiple reasons (anti-gun, fees, etc), I've tried to steer clear of them. Because of this, I've given PopMoney two tries now, each for a transaction on TGO. I've only been on the receiving end of it, but so far so good. I think I have figured out the following regarding PopMoney:

  • If your bank supports PopMoney, your money should be in your account in 2-3 days
  • If your bank does not support PopMoney, expect your money in a week (PopMoney can transfer to any routing number)
  • Some banks let you send money for free, others I believe charge a small $.99 fee. Your results may vary.

Overall, it's been a positive experience for me. In my opinion, eventually you have to ignore the line somewhere. I'm sure if you really dig deep, you'll find that PopMoney and/or the banks that use it are somewhat anti-gun. However, if you use a bank at all, chances are they do not truly support you. I'm not sure how well PopMoney protects you as the seller/buyer, so perhaps just use it for transactions you can trust?

Had never heard of PopMoney, didn't even know my bank had it available. Completed a transaction with CZ today, took 2 seconds. Copied and pasted his email address, put in amount and clicked send. Fee. $1. Thats my go to payment methos from now on. Didn't know about it until CZ told me about it.

Yep, and since my bank supports PopMoney, it should be in my account tomorrow. $1 fee for any amount vs set percentages via Paypal...well...
