Reading over some posts last night and actually had already read Lesters about him buying a vehicle over the phone and getting it delivered. Wasn't that I didn't believe him, but was kind of skeptical on how easy he said it was. Read it again this morning and decided to see if I could do it, dont know anyone who ever bought a car or truck over the phone. Wasnt as easy as I had thought, the only time I ever bought a vehicle that was easier however was.....NEVER!

Went online and looked at trucks, was still a debate between a Ram and a Tundra but what sold me was 1. I have owned 3 without a problem and 2. Even though the Ram was truck of the year there were some major differences for what I wanted it for, like the box frame on the Ram vs the C-Channel (Boxed under the engine) and the fact that Motor Trend says in the long run resale value on the Tundra will be much higher.

So I did the app, online through Toyota and our bank. The app apparently went out to dealers in both zip codes because I recieved 4 replies (2 auto replies) in about an hour. 2 from TN and 2 from MS. All 4 said the same thing, go to our stock on our website and pick out a truck. 2 wanted me to do an app through them, no deal, I was already approved in both at a very low rate anyway. Checked the stock and nothing I wanted in particular, and really didnt want to just settle. So I went back to Toyota's website and "Built my truck". They claim if you build your truck they will find it. 130 came up but they were all over the place, except for 3, 2 at one dealer (One was the right color, the other one was white, but still acceptable) and the other was the right one. Drove down and drove in the lot, waved over the salesman, told him what I wanted to see, went an looked at the first one, exactly to a tee what I wanted, the other white one, I was not interested right off the bat because of a lack of some options.

The other one (This one) was exact, told him sold. I didnt even have to do a trade apparaisel because I sent them photos of everything in detail, in fact I wasted 70 bucks because I had my truck detailed this morning before I took it over and they said not necessary, all they wanted to see was mileage anyway. $1000 MORE on trade than what I had been offered everywhere else previously. $4500 in incentives, an additional $1000 off and 2100 off MSRP plus it came with (what they say) are $1067 worth of power tools. (Which I will be selling, have no use for them).

I basically bought this truck sitting in front of my computer (Thanks to Lester Weevils) and on my phone. I spend only a little over an hour and a half, half of that time was spent test driving and going over the two trucks and and the other half finalizing paperwork. Thats a far cry from the nearly 4 hours spent the last time. To be perfectly honest, if it werent for the fact that I needed the salesman to show me where the trucks were, I probably wouldnt have even needed a salesman. Just a business manager. Wonder how long before it comes to that?

I didn't get it in TN, but I did have them title it in TN so TN still gets their 7% state tax and Rhea County still gets their Local Tax and Tag Fee.

Toyota Tundra SR5 TSS 5.7L 4x4 Crew Cab.  Same exact options as the Limited except for the two things I DIDNT want, leather seats and a sunroof.

Thanks Lester, your short post not only saved me a headache but a few grand as well.

Glad you found what you wanted.

Last car I bought I negotiated for over four hours.

We were all relieved when a deal was reached.

Thats a fine looking truck. Hope it is everything you hoped (sounds like you had that confirmed before ever leaving home!).

Congrats, looks like a great truck.

I bought a vehicle for old dad a couple of years ago cash, and going to the dealer for that transaction was even annoying. I'm probably grumpy and intolerant, but I couldn't just hand over a check and drive off. Had to be locked up with the sales manager so he could attempt to upsell a bunch of crap I didn't want, then the sales manager got pissed off and made an ass of himself because I wasn't buying his useless add-ons. I would have walked on the whole thing except stepmom had her mind made up on the SUV at that point.

If everything had been done over the phone, could have avoided that scene, and avoided having to make small talk with the salesman and hang around doing nothing much a couple of hours waiting for them to get their ducks in a row. Just tell em to drive the vehicle over to dad's when they had it ready.

Same here, we just bought a chevy cruze couple weeks back and it was pretty brutal for a while.  I was able to keep them occupied long enough that they didn't run a carfax on the jaguar, nor did they notice the temporary clearing of the CEL from the bad catalytic convertors or the trans leak. Suckers gave me full trade-in for it and $1000 under value for the one we bought
