California, the dying State (Texas vs California)

I have a hard time believing some of these numbers because they claim California had the highest sales tax which isn't accurate. I have no doubt people are leaving but they may be exaggerating

Wasn't Arizona supposed to have ocean front property by now?

Cant recall the exact number but do know the news was reporting, right after California elected a Democrat Supermajority that for the most wealthiest and businesses the overall tax rate was somewhere around 60%. (Just checked, overall its 52%) That was total of the taxes they would have to pay. Several Billionaires left and took residence overseas almost immediately, including a lot of Obama supporting celebrities.

Salon did a survey a while back after Buffet said he was willing to pay a lot more taxes and so would most of his friends who were billionaires. So they questioned 400 people worth 1 Billion or more. Anyone want to take a SWAG at how many said "Yes, we would like to pay more taxes"?

sadly none of this is surprising to me; even if not 100% factually accurate (as reported above, although I don't personally know, nor care to research for myself), the spirit of the article and the way CA is managed seems to be accurate to my understanding.  i'm sure CA is a beautiful place to live and visit, but i personally have no desire to visit and offer my $ to their tax system

Your right about that. I have done several vacations in California and had to spend 3 months in NAPA Valley and the Sacramento area a couple of years ago on business. California is certainly a beautiful state with lots to see and do. (Ive also spent a lot of time in the Mojave Desert, which wasn't so pleasant), If it were not for the Politics, you can bet a lot of people would not leave California like they are doing. California has been (At least since the 50's) a hotbed of liberalism, but things have gone so far out of control, I dont think it can legitimately be called a "State" other than for the fact that it is attached to the rest of the States. But as a tourist, I think it may still be well worth visiting to see places like Redwood National Park and Napa Valley. I wouldnt go back because I have already been there, and I certainly would not live there, But it is a beautiful place and worth visiting with targeted destinations. Mexico is the armpit of the America's, but plenty of people I know, Conservatives, still have no problem taking boats to Cozumel.

the greatest problem I see with people leaving California  is the danger of them infecting other states with their liberal ideals. they created that sorry mess with their liberal mind set and we see now even they cant live with it. for my part we should fence them in and wait for the state to break loose and fall into the ocean.

I was thinking the same thing. Colorado is a great example.

I also believe the reason Florida helped elect Obummer twice is due to the liberal transplants from NY, MA etc. Plus the Hispanics.

My way of think as well.
