Duck dynasty....not as dumb as it seems.

THe show seems corny and HEAVILY scripted at first watch, but if you dig into these guys' lives...wow.  THese are some awesome people.

By far my favorite of the bunch is Jason.  Check this video out.  I didn't even know these guys travel the country talking to groups and what not.

Kinda makes me hungry thinking about some backstrap and tenderloin...."Kill and eat!"  Well if God says so, awwright then...LOL

MOre than anything, I just love their "anti-yuppie" attitude.  Strange, if this lifestyle is soooo wrong to the masses, why is this the number 1 show on cable right now.

Great video! My son got to meet the Mountain Man 2 weeks ago and said he is the nicest guy and is just like he is on tv.  I love the show and love that it promotes family values!

If you didn't know they travel, you don't look at billboards while driving then. Willie is on billboards all over Nashville for something coming up.

It's an event called "The Main Event". Here's more info.

Parts if the show come off as heavily scripted probably because the "actors" have had to say and do the same thing 12 time in a row while the producer finds the perfect shot. The fact that some of it IS scripted also comes into play. Even so, there seems to be a strong base in reality with DD that is very lacking in most reality TV. It's one of the most enjoyable shows on the air right now I think, it's the only thing my whole family can sit down and watch without bitching.

My church tried to get them to come speak and they charge $35000 per person. Si doesn't speak, but he gets $35k for showing up.

Willie was at World Outreach Church Easter Event, guy is just like a regular guy puts his pants on just like you and me, nothing is scripted. Told how the family made it and the trials and tribulations they had to go thru. Told a few funny jokes, but brought it back home to what keeps them going, Faith. So they are GTG in my book.

At $35,000 per person they wouldn't speak too often.

Recently, the network went to Phil saying that there were complaints about all the guns and praying in the show, and asked him to cut that out. Phil told them no way. The show is still going on.

Sorry, saw "Middle TN" for location and assumed but you know what they say about assuming.... especially when the middle is actually 45 minutes away in Murfreesboro

Not that it matters here, Snopes has admitted to posting falsehoods as truths.

Maybe. But snopes.com isn't where I originally heard about Phil denying that it happened. It might have been foxnews.com but don't quote me on it.

Have seen a few episodes along with wife. Not that I watch much of anything, ain't got a problem with the show but would never watch more than a couple of minutes of my own accord.

They must be doing something right. It is wife's favorite show and she doesn't mind watching repeats, and it is elderly old step-mom's favorite show, who also watches it religiously. When we visit old dad, wife and step-mom have to compare notes on all the DD episodes.

Neither of them are country fans, interested in hunting, or at all interested in the "hillbilly way" not even the louisiana flavor of the hillbilly way. But they like and are very involved with all the characters in the show.

Oh, I ain't but 25 minutes from west Nashville. I just hate the dump and try to steer clear. Could be worse though, I mean I could live in Memphis.

It is also one of the cleanest shows on TV. No drugs, No sex, No Murder.....just good clean TV!

I live just outside Nashville. It's a really nice city... one of the best I have ever lived in. I don't see what the knock is on Nashville.

That said, there are lot of places I don't go, just like in any big city... the bad parts of town and the tourist area downtown, for example. I avoid rush hour traffic.  There are several decent Farmers Markets, great micro brew beers, decent pizza, and enough variety in culture and food for most people.

I live on several acres in rural setting, but downtown is less than 20 minutes away.

I'll admit, I'm addicted. I met Phil back years ago when all anyone knew him by was "Duck Commander", back when they still had the actual hunting show. I guess if I could describe the feeling that I got while talking to him for a couple of minutes I would say "still waters run deep". Don't let their silliness throw you, they're all very intelligent (Si excluded lol) and extremely rooted in their faith in God. I have a ton of respect for not only their attitudes and as outdoorsmen, but for their willingness to speak and spread the word of God. I maintain that if the world had more Duck Dynasty and less MTV we'd be just a little better off.

I did some checking on "Snopes". Turns out they are a husband and wife team... not some massive clearing house... that more than likely will give a liberal bias to most political subjects. Not exactly "objective", IMHO!
