May be moving to Fayetteville...local info???

I think that I may be able to get on with Goodman in Fayetteville and my wife is fed up with her employer and she won't make it 9 more years till she's 65.

I've looked on Realtracs and can see properties for sale at some very good prices compared to Nashville. What I don't know is if there are any areas to avoid like there are here. We are not looking to go very large but rather downsize from where we are now. I'm looking at a real drastic difference in the cost of living down that way. I don't want to be down next to the AL line but anything half way there and then back toward Fayetteville would be good.

My Mom was born and raised in the Boonshill area and the house that she was born in back in 1926 is for sale but it WAY more than I want or can afford. I'm excited about the possibility of moving down there.

What info can anyone share about the area? Or even the possibility of a better job than Goodman?

There are some nice areas. A good customer of mine lives there near the CC, nice area. Just south heading out of town on 110 towards Ardmore is nice as well.

I live in Tullahoma about 30 min from there. Have you thought about looking around here or Lynchburg both great places and close. Home of Jack Daniels!

I think my cousin, Wyldk2 on here, is selling his house in Fayetteville.

I work down there quite a bit. There are some good properties for sale down there. There is a "bad" part of town but its not that bad. They refer to it as the bottoms. Anywhere outside of town should be fine for you.

I thought for sure that we had some Fayetteville residents here! I guess I was mistaken!

Yes, you have some Fayetteville residents on here. Right now I'm one of them. I am actually in process of selling my house here in Park city( just south of Fayetteville). I'm maybe 10 minutes from town and about 20 minutes from Huntsville. Volzfan, If you need info on places here from a resident, just ask. I've lived here past 7 years. Reason why I'm moving is i got laid off from my job and moving back home where i have more job prospects. Plus being closer to my dad when he retires.

The "Bottoms" is in Fayetteville( close to Goodman and the County fair-grounds). It really isn't that bad there, just i would stay away after dark. You can find good property south and southeast of Fayetteville if you're looking for a bargain. If it is just you and the wife, (Buy my house). lol.

Small town it is, yes. But the cost of living isn't that bad, Considering this.Property tax(theft) is higher in the city, but out in the county it isn't that much. Yearly tags for vehicles went up this year to $100 ( paying for a new jail). And whatever you do, Don't buy your gas ( fuel) here, go to either Winchester, Tullahoma or Hazel Green( trust me, it's .20 cheaper per gallon everywhere else). There are a lot of good places to eat, though the supermarket selection is low.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask( about Fayetteville).
