Just a quick hello to everyone. I'm a Memphis native now living a few miles away in Arlington. I've been around guns and shooting since my dad started what has turned into a life-long addiction by taking me to an old gravel pit to pop some tin cans when I was five years old. I also started reloading back in 1986 as a way to help with the cost of that addiction. I do like to shoot in competitive matches and was wondering if anyone might know of any Garand Service or M1 Carbine matches in the area?

Welcome aboard. If you live in Arlington the  you live only 5-10 minutes away from Memphis Sport Shooting Association. 

I think our range is on 182 acres of land and we practice every discipline of shooting you might think of with the exception

of .50 cal due no one is sure the round won't go through the backstop at 600 yds then travel another 1/2 mile and kill

some farmers cow or something.  I won't discuss all the different types of shooting but suggest you head over to our website

and have a look for yourself. Just google mssa memphis tn and you will find it. 

 

We used to have a Garand matches and even had them in the schedule but some Navy dumb butt kept dragging all his Navy buddies

with their AR's to the match trying to turn it into a cross the course match so we kinda quit shooting them. What's really funny

about that butt head is he's on our board and will flat out tell anyone who disagrees with him. If you don't like it vote me out.  I have

very little use for that type of person.

 

Anyway, the club is expensive to join and there are sometimes politics involved but the members are very good people. Remember, it's

the members that make the club not a few buttheads.

 

You are welcome to come out and shoot as my guest if you'd like to shoot your Garand or Carbine or any other thing you got.
