i'll take it on a ford too, only Id want it to open to the inside with the option to have a cap on the entire outer edge of the box and still be able to open the compartment while in the covered box. This way you can lock the cap/tailgate and storage box and you can have your dogs in the bed as well if youre staying over night somewhere while traveling

I sold my 2008 Toyota Tundra and got a 2013 Ram Sport 4x4 Hemi with 8 spd transmission.

Ram is leaps and bounds ahead of any other truck manufacturer when it comes to the interior, and that's what sold me.  Not only can you get the ram boxes, you can get air ride suspension, EVIC, 8.5" TouchScreen, and 8 spd tranny with dial.

Not trying to sell anyone on anything, I just love my truck :)

I'd like to hear an update when you get some miles on it. I spent more time under my last Dodge trcuk than I did driving it. Maybe times have changed.

All it's missing is the factory-fitted holsters for your twin Bobergs.

aah,  I gotta disagree, that gauge cluster is atrocious.

Have you seen it in person Mike ?!?!?

The cluster is SUPER user friendly!  I came from a base Toyota Tundra :)

I'm coming up on 1,500 without a single issue so far.  Most of the reported issues are software related and most are seen within days of getting the truck :)  I'll certainly keep you posted if anything major happens :)

I'd like to get rid of ONE of the twins!!!!!

IIRC Ford was forced by the Big O to take the bailout money.

I have heard that. I don't buy it however. I've yet to see a company pitch a fit over getting free money on the taxpayer's dime. Maybe Ford was different. Who knows for sure?

Oh yea, this thing's a real dump inside. I couldn't stand being forced to sit in this.

If you haven't sat in the back seat of a Tundra Limited you don't even know what rear seat legroom is all about. The seats move forward and backward and recline. And as you can see above, the new version lets you flip the seats up for even more cargo space. Not to mention the 115v power outlet in the back (two prong, not cigarette lighter style), DVD player, nav system, in dash CD changer, dual heated 6 way power adjustable front seats, etc. etc. etc. etc. Yea I love my truck too.

I have no clue what a Yota gauge cluster looks like.
What I don't like is the various gauges scattered all over the place.  Mine are in a nice neat row on top.

Here is a rough pic of my F150.   If I had opted for a touch screen i would have a center piece similar to the Dodge. My center piece is fairly simple and I like that.  Note my MPG's!!   ;)

I recall that Zero forced it on the Big 3.  Two of them were very happy to take it,  Ford balked but was forced to accept it anyway.  He deemed they needed it in spite of their best thoughts.  I am 100% on that.

Its gotta lot going on thats for sure. But gotta admit, I like it. Im a tech guy, the more gauges and do dads to look out for, the more buttons to push, the better. ABout the only thing missing is a HUD, havent found a truck with one yet.

I dunno what an HUD is, but the Dodge gauges are spread all over the place.

Keep in mind my F150 is low end,  the Platinums and such are all shiny and have heck of a center display.

I am all about bottom line and such.  The Dodge is a nice looking truck.

My purchased new 89 Dodge had a computer issue that the dealer would never fix, this pissed me off so I went back to Ford.

Dodge will be putting a V6 Diesel in their 1500, I'd be looking at that IF I was shopping for a new truck.

HUD.. Heads Up Display. It's a digital display in some jet aircraft that displays the instruments on a piece of glass so the pilot can see them while looking out the front window. I guess some cars might have them now... Dunno.

I've always been a dodge fan. I have a old 1500 that's like a tank. I'm going to replace it this year with a newer one though (i need a back seat). I just assumed I would get another 1500, but I'll give Ford and Toyota a closer look. Edited by Batman

The Ram is the best looking truck on the road but I wouldn't own one. I hear nothing but bad things about them. Who knows, maybe they have improved.

Honestly, the Sierra is a close 2nd for me.

Some Pontiacs had them, I recall the Grand Prix and Grandam GT or something like that. I used to love messing with them when I worked for a GM dealership. You push a button on the console labled "Stealth Mode" and it shuts off all console and instrament cluster lights. Your speed and a couple of other things including radio station are then projected on to your windsheild from a camera in the dashboard.

I almost bought one of thoes cars for that sole feature but figured the technology would be expensive to maintain (even with my GM discount). Considering that Pontiac is no more and the tech hasnt really caught on in the civillian market (yet), Im glad I didnt get the car.

I THINK some higher end cars like Mercedes may have HUDs in certain modles but Im not sure. Edited by RedLights&Sirens

Well after this thread today I went looking for a new truck. Reason being I had been thinking about it because I just bought a travel trailer and was thinking with a bigger V8 might be easier to pull. Will be easier to pull, trailer weighs 7500 pounds. My 12 Tundra has 12000 pound towing capacity but decided to bump it up. Messaging Rusty with some questions and reading his posts he seems to like his Ram a lot. But I have had 5 people today tell me to not buy a Ram. Car guys, my cousin up in Pa being one (Who is in the middle of a '28 Chevy Roadster Restoration at the moment) told me that as much as wife and I travel, it will spend a lot of time in the shop. Said stay with a Tundra or go with a Ford. He owns an F250 (Bought last month) and even said for what I am using it for, of the two, stay with a Tundra. Cant beat the reliability. He owns three High Performance Mustangs, the F250, his wife and daughter both drive Fords and he has his mom (My aunt) driving a Mustang. . When a Ford guy like that tells me I should stay with a Toyota, because they are more reliable, I think Ill stay with the Tundra.

So I think I am going with one of two (Of about 30) I looked at and liked today. Both Tundra Limiteds TTV with the 5.7.

In the meantime, think I will put mine up for sale here on which I think is a super deal. This is my truck and will be in the For Sale section in a few minutes.

My mom left me her 85 Toyota truck that became my daily driver. I shipped it from Ca. to TN. because it was her daily driver till she passed and it holds sentimental value. Except for the gas issue, I love my 03 Dodge 2500 even though the dash is cracked everywhere and some minor irritating issues interior wise, it has served me well. Hopefully I won't need to buy a truck anytime soon, but if I do a Toyota or Dodge will be looked at first.

the Raptor is not the top end truck from Ford, they look nice but I rarely ever see one on the road around here.

Assuming money was not an issue I would order up a Fx4 as long as i could have vinyl flooring instead of carpet.

When I bought my STX there were a couple of Platinum Edition F 150's in the showroom,  They were very very proud of them two trucks.

Gotta love a nice Tundra. I still miss my 09 Tundra 5.7 sometimes, but I caught the Jeep bug again and am enjoying my '12 Jeep JKU.

I'd love to have been able to own both though. I put 60k miles on the Tundra in 2 years commuting to work and, other than scheduled maintenance, never had any problems at all.
