Today was a great day for MC riding.

I hit the road early today looking for a truck for my son. I put 400 miles on the Wing riding up North of Knoxville, around in Knoxville and Lenoir City, Athens, Vanore and .....it was a good day of riding. No truck, but the riding was good. Gonna pick a different direction tomorrow.  Maybe Cookville and Crossville areas.  It's been a while since I've been up that way.  I really like doing that sometimes. I've seen a lot of things for sale in peoples yards. Cars, boats, trailers, RV's, lawn mowers, you just never know.  I saw 3 really nice CJ jeeps for sale today riding up Hwy 11.

Wish I could have gotten out.  Had to pick up the dog from the vet on the way home from work, so I was stuck with the truck.  Wife and I are heading down to Cajun Fest at the Amber Falls Winery this Saturday, and it should be a good day for a ride.

I just can't seem to find enough time for riding any more.  One more day each week would be helpful.  Maybe Obama can add a day to each weekend for us.  It's not much different than printing more money when we need it.

Wish I could've gotten out.  My riding has been just back and forth to work lately.  80 mpg is nice though.

Same here. But a buddy who hasn't yet wants to do The Dragon. We need to get out there and do it.

That's pretty good gas mileage.  What kind of bike are you riding?

Meh.  It's a road.  I live about 45 minutes from the overlook but rarely ever go there anymore.  It's fun to ride when there's no traffic, but the persecution, parades, and idiots have ruined it for me.  I suggest you come during the week and avoid it like the plague on weekends.

A ground pounding, mind warping, asphalt blistering, tyrannosaurus-of-a-motorcycle...  an XT225.  It's a fun little bike.  The CBR that's in pieces in my garage gets about 55 mpg.

This is how I feel about 116. I grew up on top the mountain and have drove and rode it my whole life. Now its one leg of the devils triangle, 2hatever that is. I am glad the tourist haven't found it like they did Deals Gap, I prefer to keep traffic and cops outta there.

I've only ridden 116 a couple times and honestly, its scary even without traffic.  The surface quality is highly variable, there are some really nasty turns, its narrow, and its a long, LONG way down.  There's plenty of better places to ride.

Lol it is definitely not for everyone. Growing up on it I never even realized how bad or dangerous it was until I was older and had friends come up to the house. When I was in high school I would time myself from Lake City to my driveway in my 78 Ford 4x4. Ive made it in under 20 min, running north of 60 mph up that road the whole time lol. When I started riding motorcycles, I did it faster. It can be nerve wracking with the coal and logging trucks during the week, and not having any guard rails.

*sigh* I wish I could get a bike without a co-signer but with my credit thats out of the question. Thats a huge thing to ask of someone in my book. If I could afford a bike without making payments it wouldnt be an issue. I knew after I moved out here and fell in love with the country that getting a bike is a must. Someday. For me, bikes are toys and I don't buy toys on credit.  The only thing I've ever bought on credit is my house.  $2000-$3000 will get you a plenty nice enough bike.

The Dragon is way overrated.  Fun road but there are usually so many cruisers poking around, semis coming at you, and cops awaiting that the fun is not there.  I used to live 15 minutes from the Overlook, I'm about 25 now.  I'll still ride it but only when I know there will be no tourists.  I used to live close to 116, never cared for it, between the coal dust on the road, coal trucks,  gravel and iffy pavement I just didn't see the appeal.  I did used to ride the stretch from Brushy Mountain to the county line a lot.  I know plenty of other really good roads but the only way I share that information is in person, and no GPS, or cameras are allowed to come on the trip.

I rode all day Mon. Went to a beautiful area in Bedford Co. called Coy Gaither Beford Lake. Then took the back roads to Cheatham Co. and cruised up the west side of the river to Clarksville. Excellent ride

I will be off on Memorial Day and am planning on making a ride to Shiloh National Military Park. It's been years since I have been and honestly don't remember much about it so it will be like going for the first time. I can't think of a better way to spend Memorial Day. My wife is planning on sitting in the sun by the pool but i'd rather be in the wind!
