Im reading that this is or will be one of the worst tornados to touch ground in history.

"Up to 37 children may have died inside Plaza Towers Elementary School, KFOR reported. Seven bodies of students have been pulled out, reporter Lance West said. Those children all drowned under the wreckage of the school. Authorities believe the bodies of 20 or 30 more children may still be inside, West said."

Horrible, Prayers go out to all of them

EDIT: Meant to put this in general chat!! Oops

Just horrible. There is really nothing more I can add at this point.

That poor city was destroyed in 1999 by an F5 with the fastest wind ever recorded on earth, over 300 mph.(source wikipedia).

Shockingly terrible!   Hearing that they had evacated the 4th and 5th graders out of harms way to a nearby church , but didn't have enough buses to get the K thru 3rd graders out.

Prays to the families that lost a loved one, and to all that had to go through this.

Don't worry Obama will hold a news conference soon & say it's all "Bush's fault" ...

Not an appropriate joke at this time.

Watching on Fox now. Its absolutely horrific all the damage. All of those children dead with parents still unaware if their kids are among them. Prayers for everyone there and in the path of the storm tonight!

Lisa Patton on News 2 just said that it went from sunny skies to that in 30 minutes. That's all it took for the super cell to develop and spawn that beast.

Anybody got any suggestions on how to help out the survivors?

text the words "redcross" to 90999.  That will donate ten bucks to the Red Cross via your cell phone bill

Also can text "storm" to 80888 for the Sal Army.

Ranger up also has a link on their site and always can donate blood at your local blood bank

Actually I wasn't trying to be funny, or attempting to crack a joke or even trying to make light of the tragedy.

The Obama administration has a track record of using these sorts of devistating events/tragedies to A.) Blame the previous administration for not doing enough B.) Proposing new spending that furthers his leftist agenda.

In this particular case it'll be "global warming" and of course it'll ultimately be the Bush administrations &/or the GOP's fault for not being green enough, which is what caused this tornado to happen.

In fact it has already started ...

I actually flew over part of OK yesterday and saw some dark clouds out the windows, but had no idea about the damage and loss of life until we landed in LA. If anyone here has family/friends in the area I hope all are fine.

That was bad. I got up close and personal with an F5 in 1999 in Jackson, TN and there is no way to joke. I still get antsy talking about it 10 years later.

I saw four nader's hit Cincinnati in 74,  I can still see two funnels as I was sitting at the kitchen table.  It is a memory that i will never lose.

The path of one of them as it came across the Kentucky and over the Ohio River is still very visible.  The homes it wiped out in Saylor Park are still gone.
