Homeowner slays armed invader with sword

I'm sending this to a coworker who also keeps a sword for home defense. I took him shooting once and he made the decision that guns are not for him so he got a sword.

I'll stick with my Glock but more power to this guy for beating the bad guys.

According to some of the comments, it appears the homeowner was a drug dealer. Either way, there is one less criminal we need to worry about.

While there are certainly exceptions to be found, from what I've read the vast majority of home-invasion robberies are criminal-on-criminal.

Have you seen any stats on that?

I wonder because I've talked to my local police a couple of times about home invasion concerns and was given the impression that at least in Murfreesboro they are not a major problem.  The problem is, I don't think there is a specific crime of "home invasion" so when they get reported (and Murfreesboro does report to a national database that anyone can access) you can't really tell if a burglary/break-in would be something considered a "home invasion" or not.

Should I have put this in the knife section?

One bad guy had a gun so I would say it satifys the rule that newsworthy reports must be firearm related :-D But dont quote me cuz I dont work here.

I guess a sword is better than the typical choice of say a baseball bat or 9 iron or something like that which some folks *think* will be sufficent to protect them & their families.

Swords only become cool after you kill someone with it. Until then it is just a piece of eBay junk you picked up after watching Kill Bill.
