Well as it stands I am fortunate enough to have some pretty nice 1911 pistols, semi custom But I have just sent off my series 70 Colt stainless Government model to Heirloom Percision for Ted Yost's magic, it will be at least a year wait but Monday I will be on the waiting list, here is a link as to what it will look like when completed, http://www.heirloomprecision.com/photos/Ted_Yost/Signature_Grade_Pair_2007/

this will be my final 1911, a full house custom job that will be buried with me :)

Ted does some nice work. We've had the privilege of 'dressing' some of those up for customers.

It sounds like someone's not being honest with themselves. How long do you really think you can go without another one?

Congrats on making the jump. I guess that shoots your 1911 budget for the next year or two!

Dan and I have Yost guns, but nothing like a full house custom. That thing is badass!

Wow nice...that thing will be quite gorgeous when done.///

Not to pee on anyones parade but what in the world does he do that makes it worth $4600.00 not including the cost of the firearm. Does it shoot 1" or better groups at 25yds? I mean wow its gorgeous, but when spending $6,000 (labor + gun) I would expect something pretty phenomenal or a custom built pistol completely made in house.

questions about why...

It doesnt shoot any better than a 2500.00 gun. I have a nice Yost-Bonitz that will never be sold. but doesnt shoot any better than my Wilsons that cost much less.

The difference is; Ted and Jason are both regarded as masters in the 1911 smith industry.

They have accomplished so much in a very short time, and have youth on their side.

There is no telling what role they will play in the world of custom 1911s, but I can tell you they are already regarded as one of the very best.

Imagine spending the money to buy one of Picassos early works. Imagine buying an AC Cobra back in 1965.

Owning a Yost Full House Custom is sort of like that.

You own a one off peice of art, hand crafted by one of the greats.

Thanks Joe, the budget is definately screwed, I have always wanted a full custom job, and after speaking with Jason Burton on the phone for a couple of hours, the cost is definately justified in my opinion I am just glad my wife did not shoot me when I told her about it, actually she was very cool about it, kinda scary:)

The total cost will be $4860.00,(web prices are higher than I got) I already spent 800.00 on the Colt, the work will cost me $4060.00 maybe a couple hundred more if I want a presentation box, but this will be my baby, like Joe said it is like owning a fine piece of art, it just happens to be a Colt 1911 :)

Alright well that makes since then...forgive my lack of 1911 knowledge but putting it in that perspective I can see why you would spend the money. Very cool....plus you can keep this one loaded in a glass presentation case...I can see the small print now "in case SHTF break glass"

Neither, this is a gun forum, when I get new guns or order new ones this seems like an appropriate place to post it no? :D

I was joking about the burial, it will most definetly be passed down. Believe me if for $4800.00 I could find a full auto decent gun, I would have bought that first but checking prices lately add about 10K to that price and you may just find one,

Wait until she gives you the bill for her kitchen remodel.

Wow... very nice! I particularly liked Joe's explanation of why that gun will be worth the investment.

...still waiting for somebody to comment that you could buy 10 Glocks for that much :P
