They didn't ask.   Demanded is more like it.  Forbidden to take pictures of it, according to them.

That is why I love the camera phone. Not sure about photos but there is a program I use for videos that I may be "asked" to delete called Qik. It instantly uploads everything online as it is recorded. This way even if they violate my rights and take the phone, they can even destroy it, and I still have my video. I am sure there are similar programs for photos. Now given you are a bird watcher I assume you have a regular camera...not sure what to do there other than resist unlawful orders.

While I agree that you did save yourself some time just complying, you also reinforced their belief that they can get away with it. Can't say I would have done any differently with all the stuff you had on you...unless it was all in the trunk where I could refuse an unwarranted search. As for the second time they asked for ID just to take down my information for their personal files--OH HELL NO! But then I wouldn't have provided it in the first place unless I was stopped while operating the vehicle. Otherwise you can arrest me on whatever reasonable suspicion you have and identify me at the police station before I call an NRA or ACLU lawyer.

I don't believe I would have complied with any of this based purely on the fact that they are security guards. I would have told them if they have a problem with me they better get some actual law enforcement officers to take it up with me because since I am not a prisoner they have zero authority over me.

I probably would've just drove on down the road when the feller told me to pull down there and wait so they could check me out. But hey, I'm an internet bad ass.

Photobuck on my android phone uploads my pictures and I believe my videos automatically.

as JWC, Unless they pulled me over with flashing lights I probably would have kept going.  I am not in a habit of stopping because someone waves me down.  Then again I wasn't there.

Eh, I'd probably keep on driving down the road( you would think they would have better things to do than chase someone just taking pictures, minding his own business). Like Lagerhead said, they better get some actual cops out there to talk to me, I ain't no prisoner and definately don't deserve to be treated as such. Until I have actually broken a real law, I'll stay out of jail and their jurisdiction.

I knew about Qik, just haven't had a need to use it. Guess everyone is going to need it if we have crap like this to deal with.

I have it for recording police...every encounter and every encounter I witness. I would be called a trouble maker by some and a cop watcher by others. Never had a real need for it but just as with my guns I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I got started seeing videos of police harassment for legal OC on YouTube but have expanded my viewership to any harassment. Don't get me wrong, I don't think all cops are bad by any means but I know there are bad ones and I know that blue line is very rarely crossed by the good ones so it is up to us to hold the bad ones accountable.

Well, when I was younger( Back before the technology spurt of smartphones) I may have had my share of dealings with the local cops. Nothing bad though there was one cop that seemed to have it in for teenage drivers.

You have the right to video police ( good or bad) and if they have a problem with it, tell them since they are paid for by the taxes you are forced to pay, they will be videoed when they are on duty. They have video recorders in their vehicles so why should they have a problem with you recording them?

Good though, more people like you( Keal G Seo) are needed to help keep those that are supposed to "serve and protect" from becoming those that "punish and enslave".

They can't erase what they don't know has been uploaded to other places. If you were to refuse to show your phone you would have likely heard "if your not doing something wrong then why does it matter?" but that works both ways, if they are doing nothing wrong why would they fear being photographed?

And on a PUBLIC road to boot!!!
