I always thought his parents had a twisted sense of humor to name him that.

Sorry to hear about this. I wonder what drove him to do this.

Was a fan (Big Trickle and bigger Sterling fan. I was at Trickle's last race (His retirement race) at Atlanta. I had seats under the press boxes. Trickle came out of the corner and smacked right into the wall 10 feet in front of me, dont know how fast he was going but it was fast, they come out of the corners super fast at Atlanta. Ambulance came over, Trickle got out of the car. His entire body, from the top of his head to the tip of his toes was shaking like he had electric voltage running through him, he could barely stand up.. My cousin was watching, told him what I was seeing and he said it looked like Trickle was fine and just being escorted to the Ambo. Nope, he wasnt fine.

Edit: I have been looking for a close up video of that wreck for 10 years. Not "a lot" of people under the press boxes, but I would be able to see myself, I was sitting right next to a black guy, really drunk black guy throwing up all over the place, only one there so I would know. If anyone happens to run across a closeup vid of that crash I would like to see it.

Perhaps at 71 he decided he did not want to be a burden on anyone for anything, ever.
If thats the case, I can certainly respect that. I may be the only one, if I am, so be it.

No telling. Might have been terminally ill or something.

Certainly had all his marbles, calling the authorities in advance to come get the body.

I can respect that. I have seen a lot of suffering over the years of my career and nursing facilities as a majority are friggin nightmares. Not saying that is his case of course but some days I am deffinatley afraid of getting older.

I grew up in WI and watched Dick race and win many a Sat. short track race. I was only in grade school and would go to the races with my dad.

I remember catching up to Dick one night after a race and getting his autograph on the race program.

He always raced a purple Ford #99.

RIP Mr. Trickle.

He has been ill, but Im not sure what exactly was ailing him. I'm sure that will be revealed within the new day or few.

Dont be sad...maybe thats exactly how he wanted to die? Even animals will wonder off in the woods to die.

He didnt do it at home so his family wouldnt see it. Some people are ready to go before they get so old they have to depend in people.
