down to only 3 22 pistols

Boy, I sure had a pile at one time.  Now I am down to 3 22 semi auto pistols.

 

Top is Ruger MKIII carved and butchered with Volquartsen innards and a C-More with a nice 2.75lb trigger break.

Middle is High Standard  Dura Matic M100 6"

Bottom is 4.5" SIg Trailside with steel barrel weight

I have never seen a Sig Trailside.

That High Standard looks very much like a 2nd series Colt Woodsman.

I honestly cannot remember how many I have exactly. Somewhere less than 10 I am sure. None of mine are as nice as yours though. I always drooled over the Trailside pistols.

With 22 long rifle being so hard to find I have slowed down significantly. I used to shoot at least a brink a week, sometimes two, but I haven't shot 250 rounds in 3 months.

My interests have recently changed to center fire, as in rifle caliber, pistols. Found a Savage Striker and it will be chambered in 223, 300BO, mystery caliber and probably 308 Winchester. Might even chamber it in a few pistol calibers just to be different.

You could go .45 with it to match up with your (Krauts) other Savage. I always thought that was an interesting caliber for a bolt gun, definetly not typical.

I can't believe I didn't get a Trailside when you could find them NIB in stores for 300.00 and change.  They had a small easily correctible issue with trigger guards cracking on a few which went over the internet like Henny Penny - and I fell for it back then too.  So passed on those Trailsides being sold in the earlier 2000s. The Trailside is now solely marketed by Hammerli as the Xesse and has a neater grip, but is "essentially the same," going now for 750.00.  The thing I really like about the Trailside is the wonderful trigger and the "oh so low" bore axis.  It shoots like you are pointing your finger. 

 

As for the HS looking like a Woodsman: I would venture to say that the any Woodsman, HS - any model, Challengers (I, II, & III) and Buckmarks are essentially the same basic design.

I'd never heard of the HS before now so I certainly wouldn't have known the difference. Neat tho...
