Avoid like the plague!

I have the mold and it has issues.

I guess I should have asked you before I placed my order.

Got one you reccomend for subs?

I'm guessing it would have been cheaper from Dolomite's House of Molds :)

The boat tail doesn't work at all with cast bullets. It leads to significant leading.

The other issue is the bullet drops at .309" and when it comes out of the case it is .308" or smaller. This, again, cases leading.

And finally it cannot be seated deep enough to reliably feed from an AR magazine.

Those that are giving reviews probably see the shiny new mold and basing the review on that. I literally shot hundreds of bullets cast using this mold and it was miserable. I tried it in several guns with the same results.

But hey it is cheap.

The Lee mold made me design my own. It is 31-240-E on Accurate Mold's website. I get nothing and gave the design away. It allows you to seat the bullet deep enough to use a magazine and at the same time doesn't expose the lube grooves.

Accurate is pricey but you get a very, very nice mold. As a matter of fact I am going to be ordering again and probably designing another bullet soon.

I was serious about the leading issue.

Ask any caster or search any casting website as to whether a boat tail cast bullet will work. I took my Lee and cut the boat tail out of it and it worked a lot better. The only bullets from this mold that I have heard that work well are those that have been powder coated.

I found the rest of my odds n ends ,primarily the case cutting guide for the mini saw,(which cost more than the saw),and the WFT...Im getting stoked on this, interesting perspectives on case trimming, almost like who makes the best AR lower <eg> all good though.am learning while researching.picked up the case guide and a few odds n ends. The 650 head n die from randys looks pretty cool....now, i cant believe dolomite has a product with issues :O ;)

I found a company that sells epoxy paint. I spoke to him and he said he has gotten quite a few orders as of late for his paint.

I am going to order some of the epoxy paint but I might try something other than the Bn most people are adding to the paint as lubricant. I still need to talk to a few people to get an idea if it will work. I hope it does because it is about 30x cheaper than Bn.

I found some Davis paint company dealers. Are you looking at Davis or someone else?

Got my mold in today. Got a long weekend with the wife and kids away. Might be a good time to do some casting.

Why couldn't you tumble with 2 part epoxy fiberglass resin with no paint? You could tint if you want. May be cheaper than paint. Edited by JWC

I could be wrong but the two reasons that jump out at me are

1- That 2 part fiberglass resin would likely turn to one big hot sticky wad before you could get them out.

2- If you were able to get them out individually you would have no way to have a nice even coat, you could maybe size it but both ends of the bullets likely wouldn't be shaped right nor would the weight be anywhere near consistent.

It would be a nice slick coating if these issues weren't there. Unless reheating the epoxy caused it to epoxy the barrel.

? just my guess? Probably worth what you've paid for it.
