How many here change their transmission fluid ?

The reason I made this topic was to see how many people normally changed theirs and at how many miles. We were going to but a new car next year but instead we are going to buy a used one to save money in order to pay off student loans. We will have to buy one with an automatic transmission. I love manuals but my knee is damaged and my wife's knee is too.  What I am worried about is finding a good car but one where someone had never changed the transmission fluid. I guess I am going to have to try my luck and get a lower mileage one. I hate buying used when it comes to cars because of idiot people not doing simple maintenance like what we are talking about here. I wish buying a used car was as easy as buying a used Glock !  A GLock pistol , to me , is the easiest thing to buy used since it is so simple and easy to check all the way through with it's so few parts.

I'm 50 years old now and I've never changed the transmission fluid in any vehicle I've owned.  I've never had a problem.  Got a Nissan Quest, which is perhaps the most expensive vehicle I've owned and it has around 160k on it and it's going strong.  Don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon,as it paid off and is now classified as the best vehicle in the world.  This is also the last new vehicle I will ever purchase as well.  Buying new is a total waste of money, since it depreciates 25% the minute you drive it off the lot.  Got a 99 Maxima that we purchased 5 years ago for $6000 and 110K on it.  It's got close to 200k on it now and I've paid very little for maintence beyond an oil change every 6k miles. new tires and brake pads.  Paid it of in 3 years.  It also classifies as the best car ever!

 

I look at cars as a necessary evil and not an extension of my personality.  Money I save on cheap cars, goes towards stuff I like to do like shoot, camp, attend my kids sports events, read and just about everything else in life.

For my wife's SUV the manufacturer suggests changing every 30K. If it wasn't for the warranty I'd probably do it every 50K, but I'd hate to have a tranny issue and void the warranty due to lack of maintenance.
