Bow Fishing Interest?

Recommended Posts

Posted
I know most of us on here love shooting sports of all kinds, so I am gathering interest in a bowfishing tournament of sorts. I am not one with the fancy airboat setup, just a small boat, spot light, and couple of bows looking to see if there are others on this forum that bow fish or are interested in bow fishing.

Let me know your thoughts and if anyone is interested in an informal shoot one weekend night.

I used to do it from the river bank going after carp. That was some fun stuff when they would put the fight on.

Used to do quite a bit of bow fishing back in the '60s. Had an old recurve bow, and was quite good with it, After I

got my legs shot up in 'Nam, had a hard time stringing the thing up. Swapped for a compound bow. Couldn't

do very well with it. Always fished from the banks around sloughs, etc. Lot of fun too. My biggest was a carp

of 15lbs.

If there is any interest in experiencing it or giving it a shot let me know. I enjoy running the light and motor and watching others shoot and learn as much as me shooting. I usually go 3 nights a week and either fri or sat night. I have room for 3 in the boat max including me. Took a newbie 3 nights ago and he got in about 50 shots in 3 hrs, so the fish are all over right now.

Work has me traveling the next 3 or 4 weekends now so I'm going to have to wait. I am definitely interested in learning and trying to tag along at some point.

Sounds good. Again no fancy rig here but can put plenty o fish in the boat. Went for 2 hrs this evening and put 14 in the boat. Makes for great fertilizer for the garden!

Id be interested in a small unofficial tournament. My roommate and i normally fish Cordell hull, but we might could go elsewhere.

Have any photos of your boat?

We'd be interested in shooting/learning Cordell hull also. I'll post a picture this evening. Nothing fancy, just gets the job done though
