how do you deep clean a thermarest?

I have a thermarest ultralite backbacking mattress that had served me well for about 13 years. Surprisingly I've never had to do more than a wipe down with a damp cloth. Unfortunately the family cat became unintentionally sequestered in the garage and chose to mark his displeasure on the veteran mattress. Any backpackers out there know how to salvage the pad?

steam would probably be the method I would recommend the most.  But an upholstery attachment for a carpet shampooer would probably also be effective.

My wife has 4 cats.  Same thing has happened on occassion here.  Burn the mattress, nothing will completely work!

I've got pads going back to the Cascade Designs days. Toss it and get a new one. The acidity of the urine almost certainly compromised the closed cell foam, and you'll never really get the smell out.
