AK and AR pistols

I've got an Eotech & flip ups on one & just flip ups on the others.

If you tuck-in tight, locking the weapon's buffer tube against your cheek & with your nose almost touching against the charging handle, you should be able to sight down the sights w/no problem.

It takes a bit of practice before it feels normal, but the results are worth it especially if your trying to put rounds on a target at any sort of long distances.

If you are using a non-buffer tubed AR or AK pistol, the best way I've found is to use a sling, pushing the weapon forward, putting tension on the sling to help stabalize the weapon while sighting down the sights.

kind of off topic, but didnt want to start a new thread. my ar pistol is 9mm so its kinda irrelevant on what you guys are talking about....but

my only gripe with my ar pistol is aiming the thing. i started off with a laser mounted on the quad rail and now ive got some flip up sights. i can do a cheek weld on the buffer tube, but its kinda funky. thinking about going the SBR route because of this. what does everyone else use for sights?

Do you have a foam rubber cover over your buffer tube?

I have regular carbine tube on mine, and shot it bare for a while, 'cause was going back and forth tween pistol and rifle on same lower.

I wound up giving the pistol its own plastic fantastic lower at least for now, and wrapped the tube in black camo, makes it softer laid alongside cheek, and warmer in cold weather. I lay it on cheek as far back on the tube as possible, no probs at all using the Magpul MBUS, which is perfectly adequate for the firearm's purpose, no plans to ever "upgrade" it.

Btw, if I wanted to permanently attach the flash hider, I could also use a vertical forward grip on the thing.

I use the thin hard rubber foam covers, they seem to be the best compromise between durability & comfort, the thicker softer foam, while more comfortable doesn't seem last as long.

I haven't tried wrapping the buffer tube like OS's, but on my next one I might try that on.

I used McNett's in black:

Since I didn't want to buy a "pistol tube", I couldn't find any commercial slip on that could fit it. Bought a section of pipe insulation that would, but was too thick for charging handle to clear and it wouldn't sand down nicely or anything.  Some say there are some with smaller OD for bicycles that might work, dunno.

Mine has an A2 upper and standard A2 front sight.  I wrapped my buffer tube with paracord, and am able to get a good cheek weld and aim using the standard sights.  Recently, I added a carry handle rail and a combo green dot / red laser sight which makes it much easier to get a good sight picture.

Here it is before I added the optic:

no i dont. i had it wrapped in paracord , but the charging handle was snagging it. ill probably buy a foam cover so i can get a more comfortable cheek weld on it.

here is my current setup. ive since added a VERY powerful green laser to the right side of the quad rail with a pressure switch. really helps get get on target. i can group decent at around 50 yards with just the laser.

Go with exile machine's rubber cover. It's what I run and I love it
