I bought a Gen 2 glock 22 today at a good price. I have only dealt with gen 3's.

Are the gen 2's good guns? Should I be concerned with it being worn out. It shows some wear marks on the inside of the slide, bottom, in the chamber area like wear it rides the rails. I completely took it apart and cleaned. Seemed to have a new guide rod and spring. Cleaned it thoroughly. It also had some grooves worn into the slide where the bullet sits againts the slide (where firing pin comes out. It wasnt completely smooth.

I shot it 10 times and it was dead accurate and functioned fine. Is it safe to carry or should I rebuild it and shoot a lot more? Thanks

yes the glock gen 2 gun like all glocks are the premiere semi auto guns on the market yesterday, today and tomorrow. if you have any question about the gun I would strongly suggest you take it to a gun smith and have it checked. also as I have said before if in Atlanta stop in at glock they will clean, inspect and upgrade free of charge while you wait. and welcome to the forum.

I collect Gen2s for a reason, they are like tanks!  I have 5 or 6.  Do you ever hear anything about Gen2s, nope!  The only problem, you can't easily mount lights and other accessories as nice and tidy as Gen3 and Gen4s.

BTW, It is a MAPD scratched gun (assuming some police trade in). I love the fit, feel, and finish of the gun. Its the ideal carry gun. Its slide is worn so I dont have to worry about safe queen issues, only hang up is its a used gen 2 glock. If it were a used gen 3, no hangup. Am I just a victim of a generation gap?
