Gen 4 Glocks

I have heard good and bad things about Gen 4 Glocks. I am looking to by a G19 or G26, but worried about the Gen 4 stories I have heard. Should I search for Gen 3 instead? Thoughts please...

Gen 4 problems have long since been resolved. My model 19 and 21 have been flawless for thousands of rounds.

I have (4) Gen 4's with No Issues :)

If you get BTF (Brass to Face) issues ~ shoot it back to glock and they'll take care of it :)

Have no worries, pick one up. There isn't a lot of difference between the 26's but the 19 is an improvement, IMHO.

G19 Gen 4, no issues at all 600 rounds down range. G26 Gen 3, same no issues. I think its just bout preference now, seems they worked out all the bugs.

You will definitely want some type of rubber grip on a Glock Gen 4 though.

It's easy enough to add but I don't see why some people have problems with the roughness. I actually wish it was closer to the RTF.

I've never felt the grip on an RTF, although, I do like the grips and the texture seems grippy, without being too rough like the Gen 4.

I use talon grips on my Gen 4's :)

I have a G22 gen 3 RTF, I like it a lot, dont need any hand protection.

Buy with confidence. I've had my 17 for almost a year now with about 1000 rounds through and it runs great no matter what type ammo you run through it. Great pistols.

No problems with mine. Mostly preference now a days. Glock has good factory customer service. Can always take it by the shop and they'll inspect, clean, upgrade, and fix while you wait. Heck they'll even give you some freebies too (calendars, magazines, etc.; no guns sadly). Easy for me to say though since I live in Atlanta right now; although would make a good pilgrimage for anyone that likes the brand.

I have a Gen 4 27 and its been a fantastic pistol. I have the medium backstrap on it and its amazing how much better they can fit your hand and grip with this addition. My only wish is that all mine were Gen 4 but sadly they dont make a 36 yet

The issues were resolved before I got my gen 4 G17. That was 2 years ago and mine has been flawless from the start.

I believe MAC (Military Arms Channel) on youtube demonstrated that limpwristing 9mm Glocks can cause frequent stovepipes. I think it was specific to the Gen 4s but it was only when he held it in weird positions and he really had to try and limp wrist it.

Anyways I have a Gen 4 G23 (thats the compact .40) and have NEVER had an issue, I practice single off hand alot and I limp wrist pretty bad that way. I have shot Gen 3 rentals (all calibers except 10mm) and never had issues but my only signifigant experience is with Gen 4s.

To be honest, later model 9mm Gen 3 Glock have created about as many problems as the Gen4's. Brass to Face was a topic on Glocktalk nearly everyday until recently. These problems have slowly been decreasing. I don't know that I have heard of many of them anyway with the Glock 26.

I still use the old school bicycle innertube trick on my Glocks, regardless of Gen, just makes gripping them a hundred times better IHO.

How are the Gen 4 Glock 21 .45's doing?

Just secured one today and hope there are no problems.

I have an early Gen4 G21 (bought as an used) & a fairly new Gen4 G30.
No issues. Edited by vinstang67
