I would like to see someone shot and kill a cop and only get 3 years in JAIL(not prison).  Wow just sad.

He will be out in under a year when he should be for a lot longer.

Personally in death cases the criminal should spend a minimum of what was left of the victims average lifespan in jail. In this case the former officer should spend 26 years in jail because the average lifespan of this 54 year old women is now 80 years.

We no longer have a justice system. We have a legal system with an eye to save money rather than actually punish.

Actually we have a criminal justice system that seeks to make money, not save it. Many of you are familiar with the old military-industrial complex concept. The argument goes that after the end of the Cold War, those industries - and the government spending that went with it - shifted from military production to criminal justice efforts. Problem is, they have spent so much money that the government has run out of money.

This shows why I don't think there should be enhanced sentencing for killing LEO's. When they unjustifiably kill civilians, they don't get enhanced sentencing. What's good for the goose...

Thankfuly this is a rare occurance but his sentence is an insult to that womans life and her memory.

That would be the minimum. Other penalties would still apply. I am just getting tired of seeing people kill someone and getting a few years in jail, if that.

He should be held to the same standard that you or I are held to, period.

So if he says his hand was stuck in the window (which means he is claiming she was basically assaulting him) then why did he apologize to the family?
