Does anyone have experience doing the forward mounted optic thing (scout scope) on an AR? Any comments appreciated. I was looking at this product, and debating which glass to get:

With limited to no experience in handgun/scout optics, one of my main questions is using anything over say 2x. I would guess thats a one eye only thing, but I have no idea really.

Do you have a fixed front sight post? I have seen aimpoints and eo tech mounted scout-style. I assume you're going to have to elevate a powered optic over the front sight if you have one. I have a Leup. LER 2.5x on my Ruger Frontieer. It's a great fixed power scout scope. You'd need some good 1" rings for that mount in your link. Also, I'd check out LaRue Tactcal's scout mounts for flatop ARs. They are the best going.
