Just picked this up at Guns and Leather.  Haven't taken it to the range yet but excited to in the next couple days. Seems like an extremely well made, solid weapon..... maybe a little on the heavy side.....

Complete with Pachmayer grips, fits my hand well

Has anyone taken one of these to the range?  Opinions?

The grips are not my thing but that is a great 1911, I believe you will love it in my opinion they are the best 1911 in their price range I have shot two different ones and they were fantastic

Mine shot anything out of the box -- FMJ JHP didnt matter -- only 1911 i have ever owned that shot ANY ammo I shoved down its throat.

Finally took it to the range yesterday.......   by far

Out of the box accuracy was fantastic...... as accurate as any Kimber that I have shot

Novac low profile sights were a pleasure, easy target acquire

a very comfortable handgun (Pachmayer grips are great)

It is definitely a keeper and a handgun that I will keep for  long time.

Thanks Ruger for making an affordable GREAT example of American quality and craftsmanship

i red somewhere that was in the works -- their commander is very nice -- if you can find one

Mahoney's in JC keeps Commanders fairly regular along with the governments for the same price 699.00

The only ammo mine wouldn't cycle were Berry's 185 gr SWC. Their SWC have an odd shape, though, so I don't blame the gun at all.

I was going to sell mine but after having a little trigger work done on it not only am I keeping the full size I will be getting a commander and if they make a compact version I will get one. All will get trigger work done as I get them.

I've put about 400 rounds through mine with no problems.  The grip safety does a slight rattle but haven't did anything to it yet.  Mine is the commander size and I'm waiting for an OWB holster for it.

Nice gun, Ruger builds a good 1911, there are some things that I don't like about them, manily the use of the black thumb safety and slide stop.

As for those grips..............the term abomination comes to mind.

It's yours ugly it up any way you want and enjoy it.
