utility service providers that suck and why

My set up is this:
Phone- Magicjack @ 30/year (2.50/month), No problems thus far.
Internet- Cant beat Comcast @ 36/month for (actual) 25 down and 10 up
TV- DishNetwork @ 60/month for 2nd biggest package AND a 1 dvd at a time plan from Blockbuster

All and all I am paying about 120 month for all three. Only complaints I have about any of them is the Dish up here on the mountain in winter sucks. Snow will just collect on it and after about an inch it blocks the signal. I have had more power outages than I have had outages with Comcast. Magicjack has been wonderful since I got it about 6 months ago.

Anyone considering a magicjack should look into an OBi, I got a 110 a few years ago ago and have been enjoying a free voip line for the house utilizing google voice ever since.

As one who works in electric power, I resemble that remark!

But every one of you has done this: on a dark stormy night, you know the power is out - yet upon entering the next room, you will flip the light switch. Why? Because a lifetime of reliable service has conditioned you to expect the light to come on.

Can't say I have done that but then I have lived without electricity before. As for the power company, it wasn't a complaint to them. I know where I live there is risk of outages. I am on the south side of Cosby and right up against the National Forrest. Pretty much the side of a mountain. Super high gusts of wind in every storm and snow/ice in the winter. I actually give them props on their speed of service since it has never been out more than a few hours and that includes line down scenarios from old growth falling.

Blockbuster still exist?

Yeah, not many actual stores but they have a service similar to netflix and it is cheaper (as of the last time I had netflix anyway). They aren't quite as good as netflix on the streaming service but I guess because of their history they get new movies 28 days before netflix and redbox.
