I ordered a BP rifle from Cabelas. I haven't received it yet, but I've been notified that it has started the shipping process.

I'm sorry to have started all this stir, but I really thought that we had somehow lost the privelege of ordering by mail. :D I feel like Chicken Little.

I have emailed Sportsmans Guide and asked what new law they were obeying by not shipping to Tennessee. They haven't got back to me.

If I hear anythin else, I'll let you know.

I just called The Possible Shop and he said he had no restrictions on shipping to TN. I'm ordering my 1858 New Army as we speak. Er, type.

Well, I never got a response to my email that I sent to one of those companies.

I still have no idea why some companies restrict shipping, or what law or regulation they are basing this on.

Yeah, it's weird if not downright stupid. IIRC you don't need to have a bg check or 4473 to get one, no need for an ffl to have them shipped, so it's nonsense.

Yep. MI was/is that way for Cabelas, yet I can go to Dunham's, Meijer or China Mart and walk out with one. Go figger.

I just called Sportsmans Guide to ask why we (TN) is on the restricted list.

They were less than cooperative but finally gave the answer that "although there are no state or federal laws or regulations barring shipment of black powder firearms to Tennessee, it company policy not to do so".

I couldn't believe it. I requested they stop sending catalogs, and said I would spread the word.

They really didn't seem to give a d*mn.

Cabelas ships here. BPS ships here. EMF ships here. Taylor in Virginia ships here.

Plenty of options.

Order from Dixie Gun Works, they are in TN

Aside from that, what is up with all the thread resurrection around here lately?

Ive noticed that also. I believe its new members that are just searching the forums & not looking at the last post date.

I am sure you are right eyebedam. Really seems to be a lot of it lately.

I much prefer when new threads are started so people can say something like

"try the search next time you doofus, search is your friend" etc... LOL

And Howdy to all the new people!! :)

I posted this here so Tennessee Black Powder shooters would know how little Sportsmans Guide thinks of us and our sport.

Each can make up his or her own mind as to what action they will take.

I appreciate the helpful advice, but I've been shooting black powder for over 30 years so am pretty well informed as to the alternatives for purchasing BP firearms.

If you aren't interested then skip the post. There will be some serious BP shooters who are interested.

I can't find it now, but they used to have a link on their website, if you entered a zip code it would show customers in that area.

I quit ordering from them when I found that. Don't know if they still have it or not.

Was given that link by a guy from THR
