My avatar says all that needs to be said. XD-9 and XD-45. I don't even like the 9x19 and I still bought one. Why? Out of the who knows how many I have owned, I have never had a more reliable and just plain "tuff" handgun.

Just my 2 cents.... and at current inflation rates that probably means I owe you money:)

I traded my glocks for S&W M&P. I found the M&P shoots as good but feels better in my hand and points better than a glock. Both Glock and the M&P are fine weapons but I wouldn't go back to a Glock I really love the M&P.

The first time your mag falls out you will wish you keep that Glock...

I've got a glock 17, a glock 30, and a 92fs ( I only mention this because someone mentioned it above) the 92 and the 17 when I got them both seemed like they had had A LOT of rounds put through them, the 30 I think has been carried but not shot as much. Both glocks have performed great, as has the 92 and I really like all three guns. The 92 seems like a more comfortable weapon (for me at least) to shoot, but on the other hand the 17 seems to be less picky about ammo. I had some old surplus ammo, in the berretta it wouldn't cycle the slide completely (it would cock the gun, then rechamber the empty round), the glock didn't have this problem. On the other hand, the 92 seems to be the more accurate shooter. Personally, I would recommend either of them, they are both great guns.

I have had my Glock 19 since 1993. No finger grooves, no accessory rail, but I will never get rid of it. I have a Sig 26 and love it as well. If price isn't a concern then get a Sig. If you are on a limited budget then get a Glock.

Remember, just because it's less expensive does NOT mean that it's cheap.

That is exactly what I was going to say.

I love my Glocks.....I got my first one in '99 (a G22) and have put about 10K rounds through it....Yeah, it might not be "pretty", but to my eyes its certainly not "ugly" either. I've never had a FTF or FTE that wasn't directly attributable to the ammo I was using (a brand everyone I worked with had issue with) or my own fault. I've always abided by the cardinal rule and kept my finger off the trigger until I was prepared to destroy what the muzzle was covering, and I've not had an issue. My dad has a G21 with the same great function, and I recently picked up a G17 and enjoy it too.

i am planning on purchasing a g17 in the next couple of days, just as a range gun. I have no plans of carrying it as a defense weapon. I am having a hard time getting in, i have held it in my hands several times but have not got it yet? I have never owed a glock, i am more of a full metal kinda guy (1911's) but i have some what bought into the glock hype. So i am asking you to either sell me on the glock, or to shame me away. i am sure this will come up so i will go ahead and answer it, i have shoot het and held it and really like the way it fits in my hand. thanks for any help the other range gun i am looking at is a baby eagle in 9mm.
From what I understand, Glocks are super good guns and perform wonderfully, they are just SO damn Ugly! BJ

"if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life,

don't make a pretty woman your wife..."

But, did they take any Glocks out the door with them?

My main complaint against a Glock is their barrel. I won't buy anything I can't safely shoot a boolit through. Sure you could buy an aftermarket barrel, but why when the XD is fit and ready out of the box.

This question is easy, pick one up....

I traded my Baretta 92FS for a Glock 19 to use both as a carry and range gun. I reload and the supplies are relatively cheap for the 9mm. Its the best of both worlds. The Glock is almost indistructable and definately easier to maintain. I I haven't regretted the switch.

I have 6 Glocks, a 21,22,23,27,27 and a 33. I LOVE THEM ALL ! I dont care much for the 9mm's, but that is just me. They are a good carry gun because they are lighter than most other guns in their class. I will NEVER be without a few of them around. I also love my 229 Sig 40 and 239 Sig 40 , but they are not as easy to carry (comfort wise). I would recommend a Glock as a range gun !

I love my Glock, but the perfect "Range" 9mm is going to be the Sig 226. You simply cant get any better then that. Period!

I happen to agree, there is nothing like a Sig...... A P226R in 9mm, now that is FUN!!

personal preferance really, I always wanted a sig but really like my walther p99. The feel and the weight are really good to me on the p99. Just get a walther
