New rifle build and a good deal on barrels

A few weeks ago I posted the need for a .308 AR barrel for a precision long range build I was working on. I researched tons of different barrels from cut to button rifled. Meanwhile I was also searching for a 5.56 barrel to replace one of the few ARs I sold off during the craziness.

My 5.56 build

DPMS lower (used was cheap...)
DPMS parts kit ($62)
LMT SOPMOD stock (had it left over from previous)
Mil spec buffer tube and buffer ($35 from eBay)
12" Midwest Industries quad rail ($120 from ar15. Com EE)
.750 Troy gas block ($34 eBay)
Rifle length gas tube (had from previous build)
Lothar Walther LW 50 20" 1/8 twist stainless varmint tactical with match bolt ($382 shipped)
Bolt carrier (from previous build)

Nothing took longer than a week to get, stuck a scope off another rifle on it and first groupings are .4 MOA with 52gr SMK (which are far from the optimal bullet for this rifle). 21 shots fired, scope sighted in, one 8 shot sub MOA group lol and two sub .5 MOA groups... Barrel cleaned in three patches... Barrel is amazing, LW has them premade (they apparently were a special run for Smith and Wesson Performance Center). This is also very similar to the barrel they make for Larue.

This is where the good deal comes in.... I love the barrel and decided its what I want for my .308, called Woody at LW and lo and behold he has them in stock 20" .308 SS varmint tactical with matched bolt.... Get this same price $369 plus shipping....


This is a great deal for someone looking for a precision rifle barrel.

Lol I will take some tonight.

It turned out to be a really decent looking rifle, much lighter than what I expected for a 20" barrel.

Not the best pic... It's waiting on some new glass but otherwise she is ready for duty.

I can't wait to get the barrel for the .308 lol
