had an good acquaintance get furious with me today because I wouldn't sell or give him some 22lr, 9mm, 45acp, & .223 ammo. He shot up everything he had and wanted me to let him in on my stash. I told him if he needed a magazine or two for home protection I would give it to him. But he said since I wasn't useing my stash then I should let someone in on it that would. I told him I learned 1993 to purchase ammo and magazines when I had spare cash and to keep a moderate amount in reserve. And when my sons come in on leave they more than adequately deplete any and all reserves I may have on hand. This guy pitched a fit, Especially over 22lr. Needless to say I requested that it was best if he left and never return.....Anyone else have similar circumstances

I recently helped a neighbor who is LE. Lent him some mags a few months back and gave him reloading supplies recently because he couldn't find either. Not a call since. As a matter of fact I suspect the reason he isn't calling is his brother is going to screw me out of a set of quad rails and sights I lent him when he couldn't get any.

So much for trusting that LE officer now. Going to demand my stuff but after that there isn't much I can do.

I help people out all the time but recent events have made it easier for some people to apparently do underhanded stuff to screw me over. Definitely making me rethink helping people by lending them stuff I don't want to loose.

Yes I have. I mentioned in another post somewhere on here. It was my FIL wanting .22lr. Long story short, I told him, "oh no, you voted for this joker, you're on your own."

They always say not to loan money -- or stuff -- that you ever expect to see again. . . . .

OP -- Sounds like a spoiled child using you to his own advantage, and not a friend per se.

I've got some friends that act like I have "soooo much ammo" and they have "sooo little ammo"? First off, I am extremely under where I want and need to be, but because they shoot up all of theirs without replenishing, they have less. I've nickel'd and dime'd every round, and even paid more than I wanted to for some of it. It hurts like a sprained ankle to go shooting without being able to replace it. I guess if someone was going to just give me some of their stash, it may be easier. There are many a weekend I skip going shooting nowadays just because of the ammo situation we are in now. But I definitely don't look to my friends who are much more ahead of me for a handout. Damn sure wouldn't be mad at them because they are more prepared!

Another reason I don't tell anyone but a couple of my closest family members what I have in ammo (or tools :))

Sorry to hear about an acquaintance gone south. That sucks.

My friends and family all know...get furious with me in my house and you're out the door. Come back in a better mood and I'll tell you no in a much friendlier tone of voice.

Just like going to the casino and not filling the tank before you get there. There is no fix for stupid. stupid people can walk home and use their guns for boat anchors. I don't loan money at the Casino and I sure as hell don't give out or loan ammo during hard times just so someone can blow it up.

I don't own a firearm that I don't have some ammo lying around for, some of this has to do with greatly putting on the brakes as far as how much shooting that I have been doing.  Actually I'm not shooting at all.  I have enough ammo to last a while because I've conserved well.  I'm not giving the last of mine to some knuckle head to burn up.  If we ever do have a scenario such as a government collapse or the exact people who will be begging for preps because they didn't have the foresight to stock up on stuff before hand.  We are not doing anything but hurting ourselves on this ammo shortage thing right now.  Go pick up a fishing pole and come back in a few months.

I learned a long time ago, do not loan anything to anybody that you are not willing to give them.  That way if you get it back it is a bonus.

All the comments about not loaning stuff out if you want it back aside, don't change just because others are a-holes. Can't let them win.

You do know that the term" Injuns" is really derogatory, right?

You mean kind of like Kraut? Sorry, just couldn't resist  :stir: .

Kraut has a legitimate usage in conjunction with the word Sour.  Injun is just a racial slur.

Its a horrid racial slur.. Its a shame that someone would actualy use it.. Native American Indians are part of this country.... its sad someone would actually use that word..especialy on a public forum. A mod on here is part native american indian.. I know how he feels about this.. Its not about being PC or getting offended. I just think its rather sad...

I will still lend stuff out but I guarantee it won't be the stuff worth $100+ I have in the past. I am probably only going to lend out stuff I have duplicates of if I don't get my stuff back. I got a PM ffrom the officer friend and he said he has been telling his brother for over a month now I want me stuff back. His brother keeps on making excuses why he can't give me my stuff back.

It is just upsetting that it is gun people, who should be sticking together, who are screwing over other gun people. Seems like friendships aren't worth much to some folks if they are throwing it away over a box of ammo or a gun part.
