Treat plated bullets the same as lead when loading?

10% below starting load or not?

Thanks,

For all intents and purposes, yes.  Weight is weight. There's not a problem with jacked bullets from the lead standpoint.

According to Berry's, you load to low to mid range jacketed bullets.  Take that for what it is worth and research it.

Berry's plated bullets are a lot tougher then they give them credit for. I've loaded their 100gr HBRN bullet to 1325fps in 9x19mm with no ill effects to the bullet. I recovered a few from the sand box I shoot into and the plating was still intact even though they only advertise to load them to 1250fps.

Not recommended but I have loaded some Rainier plated .30 carbine bullets in a .308 to velocities the little carbine never dreamed of. No ill effects and accuracy was quite good.
I've also ran them in some balls to the wall .300blackout loads that far exceed the their intended purpose.

That's what I've always done if a particular brand of plated bullet wasn't in my manual. I'll play it safe and use the lead load and then Chrony 10 of them. My Rainier's seem to be right around the same powder charge as lead but Berry's seem like they can take more powder than lead like Frank and Caster said.
