I find it interesting that the Memphis city attorney thinks that the city of Memphis can dig up General Forrest.  Where does he get this idea?  As much as I think it is silly, Memphis can rename parks after Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton if it wants to.  But to just go dig someone up because you do not like him?  How about 100 years from now Memphis' present day 'great leaders' are dug up because future society does not approve?  That is a bad precedent to set.

You didn't read it either?  Or not even my quote?

I read it and your quote. The fact that the above sentence is in the story implies that some thought it would be well and good to get Gen. Forrest out of the park.

It only implies to me that there is no movement afoot to dig him up, but only to rename the park.

First saw this whole hissy fit reported here a couple of months ago or so, and never seen one thing about any proposals for exhuming anybody?

The problem I see is changing a name is not going to magically make Memphis a top ten city to live in. Yes slavery was a bad thing but is it not ironic how so many are still enslaved to the governemnt and recieve most of the benefits slaves were given during that time. Housing, food, and so on.

The memphis city attorney did seem to think that Forrest could be dug up.  That is not being done, but still shows how crazy Memphis is when it comes to ideas.

I'd like to see Memphis figure out why a good % of the male population in the city is made up of convicted felons and fix the problem.
