+1 Backhawk Serpa...

Bought a Blackhawk Serpa this past weekend at G&L.

The one that comes with a belt attachment and a paddle attachment.

(For my USPc)

I really like this holster. What pushed me toward it was the fact

a number of the guys (and gals) on the board have them and love them.

Being able to configure the cant, go from paddle and belt was really neat.

Also having the "button" lock was a great added bonus as well.

Can't brag about it enough. Well made, light, and adjustable. It's just really hard to beat. (IMHO)

+1 That's the holster I have and I love it. I generally use the paddle because I can't carry at work so I take it off and leave it in the car. Makes taking it off and putting it back on for my drive home a snap.

This is a great holster. I have it mounted to the front of my body armor vest. It's very adaptable and easy to draw your weapon.

There is at least three training outfits that do not allow Serpa holsters in there classes. That's why I will not buy one.

What seems to be the problem with them?

I think most of the badmouthing of the Serpa holster is net rumors. Neither myself, nor anyone on my department has ever had a problem with the lock not working. I've also never shot myself while drawing.

From what I've seen... the guys who badmouth the SERPA because of one, maybe two actual reported malfunctions, are the same guys who swear by Glocks and dismiss the idea that they are unsafe because of 'only' a few hundred leg shootings and kBs...

Kinda funny, actually, if you think about it.

I love mine.

I have a SERPA for my XD/G19/P228/1911 and on none of them does the button come anywhere close to the trigger. I think people are quick to blame a product that seemingly caused an AD instead of their own stupidity.

Then agian, Blackhawk could have redesigned the holsters before I got them and its just not an issue anymore. I'm also a Blackhawk fanboy, so could just be the koolaid talking.

Also, the thing about BH that pisses me off though, is the fact that they will not make a Serpa for a Sig P239, and yet they will for a freakin Taurus Judge.

I could see the trigger-guard on a P239 being difficult to make work with the SERPA latch, because of its shape. Probably not worth the necessary modifications to the design, for the small demand it probably has.

Just one of those things...

I really like mine. I am not using it right now because it doesn't hold the gun close enough to me. I will use it mostly in the fall and winter months. By far it is the easiest to use of the two holsters that I have.

+1.Folks they make this holster without the lock, and it costs less than the Serpa version as well. Also like Grout says the non lock version is the fastest kydex holster made.

I have a BH that I use in cooler weather with my J-frame and have had no problems with it, in fact it is my favorite holster. --MP

Here are the training outfits that do not allow Serpa holsters in their training classes. Tactical Response, LMS Defense and Suarez International. You can check on their web sites what is allowed and what isn't.

Mike, glad to hear you bought a SERPA. I recently picked up one for my G19 to use on the rare occasion that I'll open carry it (or at least OWB carry it) and for use at the range. They are great little holsters.

And I haven't even shot myself in the leg once with my Glock. :puke:

My unit uses the serpa or safariland legdrop - mine's mouted on my body armor with their molle adapter. Perfect for mounted ops. Serpa is a bit more general purpose, which I like.
