Question about Beretta 92FS

I have a stainless 9mm Beretta 92FS that has never been shot. My neighbor has one and I shot his and loved it. I bought the stainless to carry but I am a pretty big boy and it is difficult to conceal. What can I expect to sell it for to get a smaller gun to carry?

Thanks for any help.

Interesting, a pretty big boy cannot conceal the 92FS?

You should not expect to get anything more than you paid for it in a private transfer. I know that my black one was purchased for around $500 after tax and check. If I were to sell it to a private individual I would expect to get at most $400 out of it since it is used and shows wear from being holstered.

For the stainless, unfired, I would expect about $500.

This is a very important lesson - never buy something to carry that you haven't tried on.

Yeah, its worth around 450-500.

Where are you located? Perhaps you can find a dealer to swap you out of the Beretta and into a carry friendly replacement.

I could get you into a new Glock or Smith and Wesson M&P for very little money

I was offered $300 at 2 places in Memphis. I am in Jackson, TN. They said they had several and that they were not selling. They said the same thing you did for private resale (450-500). What would a Glock or M&P cost? I am obviously new in the handgun world. Any help is appreciated!!

Glocks and M&Ps have a 600 MSRP and sell at 509-545+ depending on the shop.

So, dont deal with guys in Memphis if they are offering you 300 bucks. Thats borderline criminal.

I can put you in a new G17 or MP9 for 50 bucks out the door.

Thats like giving you around 550.00 for your gun. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Considering you are relatively new to firearms and this is for a carry gun I would go with the M&P. I love my G19 (well I would if the finger grooves weren't "off" for me) but since you have not been around handguns the external safety on the M&P and the fact that you don't have to pull the trigger to take it down might do you better.

Yes the gun stores in Memphis are highway robbers and you are likely to get robbed just walking from your car to the door at most of them.

If you can make it out to Hero Gear I would do it.

That being said, I would go handle them both to see which one fits your hand better and if there is a range in the area that rents either of them then do that.

While I'm not generally a fan of stainless guns for metallurgical as well as tactical and aesthetic reasons, I'd hang on to any 92 series Beretta. I've had a 92SB for more than 20 years and still use it in the field. The 92 is one of the great guns of all time.
