Just had Coal Creek Armory replace the sights on my Remington R1. They cut the slide to fit a Novak rear and a Dawson FO. Great job.

Give Tim Calhoun a shout.  He's in Kingston Springs and is TGO member.

just got a "new" springfield 1911, was thinking about bastardizing it with some big dots myself...

I had Rocky at Franklin Gun Shop put Trijicon HDs on my carry 1911. Can't remember offhand what it cost, but I was surprised he did it while I waited.

my front sight is staked, otherwise i would put them on myself...i haven't seen anyone do a staked sight and i would be scared i would eff up my gun...

Ask 221Fireball.  He just had a dovetail put on his Springfield GI by someone over in Gallatin that did an excellent job.

i would probably just come out better buying the staked sight and having the smith install price wise instead of having them cut a dovetail in the front of the slide...dunno???

wow, you guys are great... and now I have check around. I been to the franklin gun shop and it was $200 for everything. I wish I had a clear photo of them, but all my pictures came out dark

The dovetail just gives you a little more flexibility if you decide to change the site again in the future.

i figured that...i am a big dot guy...have them on my glocks...not big on 3 dot sights after moving to them...

I was looking at a 3 dot with that glows in the dark. I am right handed but far sighted on my right eye and these sights just arent cutting it.

IMHO night sights are good for your bedside gun only, and maybe, maybe, the gun you carry every day.  Personally, I want sights that work when I shoot 99.5% of the time... during the day.  That's why you buy lots of guns and have one for each purpose.  :)

I wish I could upload a pic of the sights. They are CRAP. Day or night. The Front post is laughable. My bed side gun is my Rock island m5 loaded with OO buck

$160.  and not all FOs are the same.  The Dawson is like.....wow!.  I am changing out the FO on my M&P pro for a Dawson as well.  Tim Calhoun has also done some work for me.  He is a great guy, reasonable, and I am sure you would be happy with his work as well.
