Schumer, McCain say gun control bills will return

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy...

The Senate will try again to pass recently defeated gun control legislation, and will be aided by increasing activism from previously neutral voters, Sen. Chuck Schumer predicted today at a press conference.

“I think we will bring the bill back before the end of the year… lots of Senators who thought it was safe to vote against it [April 17] because of the intensity [of gun-rights supporters] are not so sure any more,” Schumer told reporters at an April breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

“I do agree with Chuck that I think the issue will come back,” said Sen. John McCain, who supported an amendment to expand background checks during an April 17 vote....

Sad that McCain, Senator from Constitutional Carry Land, is saying anything besides no, never, and not a chance.

Remember that old 1967 movie, "Wild in the Streets"? Young hippies overthrow the government by dumping LSD into Washington's water supply.

Well, I don't think that such a plan would really work. If congress ever gets dosed with LSD then they would not even act one lick weirder than usual.

I think maybe it has already happened

If it hasn't, it might actually make an improvement.

No, that's when it will really begin.

And that has me worried the most, not worried about the government. I worry about another government seeing

how weak we may appear, come in and try a take over, and our tit suckers coming for what we have.

I am all for a Crime Control Bill and get off the Gun Control BS.   It's not the guns its the assholes who use guns criminally.  Start enforcing the laws and put these asswipes in jail, sure would cut down on Chicago's and other welfare cities issues, and leave the rest of us the frick alone....

MSNBC has really hammered on this all week. REALLY hammered.

Today's repeated meme was how the crazed gun nuts and bloodthirsty NRA sells guns to children. Cases in point, the popularity of the Crickett and Chipmunk rifle, youth shooting events, and of course the tyke that killed his sister with one.

Also the NRA convention in Houston (and the nut that shot the gun in the airport there), and the Neanderthal sentiments of the incoming NRA president.

And the constant mention of the polls showing the drop in approval of those who voted against the gun bills, and the rise of those who did.

etc.

Since MSNBC has proven to be the Itar-Tass of the Obama Republic of Progressive Indoctrination, I can only surmise we're going to see another round of this in the 113th Congress.

edit: Couldn't find their "Crickett Report" vid yet, but here's the general tone, from Mother Jones, one of their fav pubs:

edit2: Looks like they've taken the site down at crickett.com. Probably zapping all the "kiddie gun porn". What a frigging absurd country we've become.

How would prison cut down on welfare?  Isn't prison the ultimate welfare state?  Three free meals, room and board, cable, a workout facility...

I'm not saying it's penthouse living, but THEY sure aren't paying for their prison stay.  We'd be paying for them in there just like we're paying for them out here.

McCain is a big reason why a candidate simply having a R behind his name does not guarantee my vote.  If anything it makes me more suspicious of them.

We don't need a crime control bill. We need to nullify a bunch of confusing laws, already on the books, if we do that.

The answer is nothing approaching another new law. You could send those fools home right after they deal with a

budget, if they ever get around to that, but that would be too simple.

A new law is equal to someone else becoming a criminal. No answer there.

eventually they will pass enough laws that everyone will be a potential lawbreaker.  I think it is part of the plan.

They will never pass a budget,  certainly not a balanced one in my lifetime.   Very few if any of them are worthy of office.

"Eventually"?? That's already happened Mike. Between federal and state statutes, you likely committed a couple of felonies if you left your house.

Anyone that votes straight line party ticket, without doing their research, deserves what they get.  Just because your a repuglican, doesn't mean you will automatically get my vote.  McCain did not get it back in 08, because of his views.  Bob Barr and the Libertarians did.  I held my nose and voted for Romney in the last election, because I'm afraid that another SCOTUS Justice will be placed on the bench by Obama and doom this country, and I wanted the best chance to stop that from happening. And sadly, I urged you all to do the same thing.   I regret doing that, since it made absolutely no difference.

As for this coming back up in the Senate, we need to keep the letters, phone calls and emails coming into our representatives, or we will be steamrolled in the Senate!  I could easily see Alexander and Corker changing sides on this, to get it done.

Those who value freedom, liberty and the natural rights we all have (and embodied in the Bill of Rights) WILL eventually lose the "gun control argument" unless we force the gun-haters (which are actually haters of liberty and freedom) to talk about the actual problem, CRIME by CRIMINALS.

We know that the problem is not "guns"; the problem is criminals. But, as long as we talk only about the TOOL criminals like to use (not to mention let the gun-haters spew absolute lies about "gun violence") we will always lose the argument because is sounds so common sense that every gun transaction should go through a background check and that "no one needs 10 bullets in a gun" for hunting...I mean after all, it's just common sense, right?

Republicans are NOT going to fight this fight for us; the only effort they will expend will be what is necessary to not get booted out of office in the next election.
