I just bought some of these exploding targets. I got the "Rifle – 2 LB Jar". Anybody tried these before? Anything I need to know about them that's not written in the instructions? Can I just put them in the middle of a big field and shoot them?

Seems weird that I was just able to walk into a gun store and buy these, lol. Do they have age limits on who can buy them or anything?

I wanted some of these, but would be afraid my sheepish neighbors would call the sherrifs dept and tell them I was testing bombs or something.

Yes.  2lb will make a pretty big boom.  Four 1/2 lb shots might be more fun.

So how loud is it? If I have a neighbor say an 1/8 of a mile away in here in the boonies are they gonna be freaked out and call the sheriff?

They will hear it for sure. It will be pretty significant boom, but at that distance I wouldn't think they'd freak out.

PS I'd put it at least 75-100 yds away just for safety

I wonder if you could make tiny targets that you could put in a skeet thrower and launch? Will a shotgun even make this stuff ignite?

Just thinking outside the box here haha. Edited by maroonandwhite

Won't explode. Not enough energy, similar to pistol and .22 ammo. Has to be high velocity.

The stuff is OK to use, when the LEO shows, tell them what you are doing, DO NOT LIE, every thing will be OK.

My neighbors call LEO on us for shooting, He was worried for a short bit,

till we showed him what we were doing, even asked him if he wanted to shoot.

He said "No I am on duty, Yall be safe, I like to shoot target as well", said bye and left.

99% are OK people, just dont lie.

Yep. I shot 2 pounds and decided bigger is better. 12 pounds of Tannerite left me speechless.
