I just bought a box of 20 CorBon 9mm 115 DPX +P for $29.99. They feed ok in my XD subcompact but my Kahr CW9 requires a forceful slide closure to get it to feed.

I got some Federal Hydroshocks and they rock IMO...just a few test shots at the range.

Then you may be jumping to conclusions.

When selecting new defensive ammo, this is what I do.

1. Select a round that has done well in properly done lab/gel testing.

2. Shoot "x" number of rounds through the gun to verify feed reliability.

3. Shoot from a rest to test for satisfactory accuracy.

4. Shoot at night/darkened range to test for excessive muzzle flash.

For me, HydraShoks stumble on stage #1 (bare gel they're OK, but many times they don't do that well with clothing/denim/barriers) and #4 (I've seen excessive muzzle flash from HydraShoks).

Based on the above, my five favorite 9mm defense rounds are...

Winchester 124gr+P Ranger-T (bonded and non-bonded)

Speer 124gr+P Gold Dot

Winchester 147gr Ranger-T (bonded and non-bonded)

Are there other good rounds out there? Probably, but I haven't personally tested them.

When I give ammo recommendations to people who come through our classes, they're based on the above.

Regards
