I've read almost everything I could get my hands on about the attack on Pearl Harbor...I picked up my first book on the attack when I was, I think, in fifth grade.

Visiting the Arizona memorial is on my bucket list and I think sometime in the next 12-18 months I'll finally get a chance to do so as a buddy of mine (First Sgt Army) currently stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO is currently scheduled to be posted and finish out his career in Hawaii so I plan to head out there and visit....I don't really care about Hawaii all that much to be honest but other than Alaska it's the only state I've never been in. :)

Thanks for posting this...makes me proud to have served in the greatest navy on earth!

I have been to the Arizona Memorial twice now, and it is absolutely more somber than I had ever imagined it would be.  They showed a video about the interment that last time.  Very sad and very somber.

Wow. Just Wow.

Places I wish to visit. The Arizona Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial. I don't stand a chance of remaining dry eyed at either one.

I went to the 60th anniversary of Pearl Harbor; it was amazing. Early on the morning of December 7th I listened as some of the survivors told their stories. It was a very emotional experience.

I have been on the USS Missouri several times over the years and I love every minute of it. Mighty Mo stands guard over the Arizona. Make sure if you go you take that tour also. Standing where the surrender of Japan was signed and hearing the behind the scenes stories of what happened on that day is very interesting.

Young people I talk to are surprised when they hear the facts of why the attack happened.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Arizona Memorial December 6th, 2012 and I had the honor of being on the memorial with 4 survivors from the Arizona and 5 other Pearl Harbor survivors.  It was an awesome moment in my life and is most definitely a checked off item on the bucket list.

I've been on board the Missouri many times when she was in Bremerton WA; the New Jersey as well and am glad I had that chance .

Been to the VV memorial several times as well - take tissues with you because if you at still breathing you cannot help yourself.

I would say less than 1 person in 1000 understands why the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, I am a huge WWII history buff and the reasoning was a bit surprising to me.
