Shelby County Commission 2nd Amendment Support Resolution

Recommended Posts

I was privileged to be asked to testify at the Shelby County Commissioner's meeting on Tuesday, along with fellow TFA members Kenny Crenshaw and David Mixon to advocate for their 2nd Amendment Support Resolution. During the testimony, I was impressed with the comments, questions and support of the issue from Commissioners Terry Rowland (Sponsor), Heidi Shafer (Girl on Fire for the 2nd Amendment), Wyatt Bunker and Chris Thomas.

Not so much with Chairman Mike Ritz, who was condescending and insulting of the 2nd Amendment, and very Brian Kelseyish in his display of disdain for anyone who would ask the Commission to "waste its time" on such frivolity as seeking to support the 2nd Amendment in an environment so fraught with dangers and attempts to weaken it. He intimated that the State's Attorney General had issued an opinion decrying the Resolution "Unconstitutional", which is of course a bold faced lie. I believe that this individual has decided to join the ESTABLISHMENT RINO's Club, as he exhibits all the traits of what I at least consider that ilk to be.

Chairman Steve Mulroy was as non supportive as Ritz, but at least Mr. Mulroy is an honest liberal, and his dissertation of how bad the Resolution was, how it was rendered moot by the Supremacy Clause could be understood, and was simply grounded in a failure to understand the facts and functions of our Republic, but at least it lacked the mean spirited venomous approach of Chairman Ritz.

The Resolution passed out of committee, and will be on the agenda for consideration this coming Monday, April 29, 2013.

Any idea if the county commission can drop the signs at Shelby Farms?

I have been meaning to ask if it is posted there, I honestly can never get a straight answer from people I know and have never noticed it on signs. Then again I dont always see every single posted sign especially in a senic area.

And a right-minded attorney general. RINO politics mixes so well with Democrats they're indistinguishable.

We have to fix both to fix that part of the problem. I don't know the rest of the actors in the play, but with

it being left-leaning Memphis, I guess I'd feel privileged to be able to get a foot in the door in that body.

It is coming up on an election year.  Noticeable that most of the more Liberal leaning Commissioners left the room prior to the actual vote, so that they would not be on the record as having voted against the 2nd Amendment. (Charmian Ritz included, after his down the nose tirade against anything firearms).

Slimy, no spined bunch of bad actors in my opinion.

There was an offering by the Sheriff's Dept. related to reworking their firing range, taking it down from a 50 point range to 35 points, but adding some classroom space and getting it up out of the flood.  They got challenged pretty bad, and told to go ask the Memphis Police Dept., if they could not use their range instead...

Interesting to watch the maneuvering.  A few staunch Conservatives and a lot of other types.  Very similar to the State legislature.

Ritz is an arrogant politician.

I have not seen signs at every entrance to Shelby Farms and I hope it stays that way.  It is no different than the big parks in Memphis like Overton Park.  No way can their maintenance crews think to put up a sign at every entrance.

We really need to get park pre emption next year and also decriminalize those signs.  Those two things would bring huge improvements to gun rights in TN.
