Ried is trying to rush through a bill on explosives

Funny how the timing of new legislation seems to correlate to high profile horrific events. Kinda makes you wonder who's really pulling the puppet strings.

Translation:  "Willfully relinquishing yet another contitutional right relating to purchasing gunpowder is a small price to pay to maybe, hopefully make our communities safer.....If we save one life...blah blah blah......It will be worth it."

 

 

So out of touch.....I'd say it takes a lot more than a background check to obtain an "explosives permit".....and I'm sure he meant to say gun powder.  Just shows ya how stupid these people are.

Well they're about to have to eat crow because it's now been found that the brothers didn't use any kind of "gun" powder for their bombs but got it from a bunch of fireworks they bought from a popular fireworks store. The same store where the "almost" time square car bomber got his. But do I think that these facts will stop them from trying to push this bill through? Since when do facts matter to gun grabbers? Pathetic.

no smokess  powder is smokeless powder for small arms explosive class 1.3 in cans of 8 pounds or less

I'm not in favor of knee jerk legislation . But why can't they put an exception for people with a permit who have already passed this. ALSO, THIS IS NOT A FEDERAL ISSUE! At best this should be handled on a state level. Unless it was somehow an interstate "problem."

A permit is not currently required for purchase of black powder under 50 lbs, nor for smokeless powder of any quantity.  Why would this need to be changed at all?  Has nothing to do with a carry permit.

Who classifies it as such? The government? I was taught that gunpowder burns creating expanding gases, and explosives create a pressure wave. After all, steam can create an "explosion" by many people's definition if enough pressure is maintained to a critical point.  I guess it doesn't really matter since the government can define a duck as a plant and we aren't to disagree with them.

 

Are they going to outlaw charcol, sulfur, and potassium nitrate too?

the un yes the united nations define haz mat for shipping and id i dont type too well but if you need more info just call 615-497-4205

just the ins for me to haul powder to gunshows is about 1200.00 per month .on top of that i have at least another 4-500 per month of adm. fees with it

there are some states that you must have a special permit to buy and sell smokeless powder  nj comes to mind

kinda funny primers 1.4 are not haz mat till you have 1000 pounds the 27.50 that ups and fedx charge are not goverment charges they charge it for the extra work they have to do

Because, by and large, the people pushing such BS regulations hate the fact that it is possible to obtain a permit to carry.  They'd love to do away with any type of carry rights/privileges.  They certainly aren't going to give added benefit to having a carry permit.

Everything is a small price to pay, until you add all those small prices paid and see what's left. You're right, Randall.

My vote goes to introducing a bill that mandates background checks for politicians checking for stupidity and mental issues before they run for office. Lautenberg used to have a lotta dough in the security industry while being anti gun... Can't fix stupid....
