Hey all,

my name is Henry, and I'm from Michigan.

my interests are shooting (obviously), guns, reloading and riding motorcycles.

I will be visiting your fair state next month and I found your site while searching for

info on gun laws and shooting opportunities in Tennessee. I am also a member

of MIGUNOWNERS.ORG in my home state of Michigan which is a good resource for

any of you folks who may be heading up this way in the future and may be looking for info

on gun laws and shooting opportunities in Michigan.

Welcome - I used to be a MGO member.

Welcome!

I used to go to Detroit a lot for work, and I was a member of MGO.

I recognize both of those screen names and I'm glad to see you again  and thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome.

We don't need no stink'n gun laws in Tn.... :yuck:

Just KIDDING Henry! I'm originally from Flint Mi., though I don't spread that around my southern friends much. I left Mi. when I joined the Army in '73 and never went back. I love the south, and the laws of the south...especially when I remember that in Mi., I had to register ALL my handguns, 2nd hand or not, with the sheriffs department...I imagine that law is still in effect? I don't think my CCW permit works up there either.

I do miss the beauty of the woods and lakes in the 'Upnorth' of the state...and the fact that Michiganders don't litter their outdoors...never understood why that happens down here,,,when the south has just as pretty lakes and woods, minus the trash, bottles and old car tires. :usa:

Actually Chad is correct that your CCW is valid in MI for pistols and now  tazers, and unfortunately you still have to register your handguns

with the MAN. As soon as my grandbaby is grown I'll be leaving as well. Some MI laws I like better though. We cannot carry in court, jails or fed. buildings

but we can carry into any police station or gov't. office, and all parks including any buildings in them again except federal bldgs. We cannot

concealed carry into bars, churches, hospitals, courts or casinos though. Although you can open carry into those places except as posted.

It'll have to do for now.

I am from Lincoln Park which is just south of Detoilet, I hate the snow more and more as I get older too! As I said above, As soon as my grandbaby is grown I'll be leaving as well.

My mom is from Adrian, welcome from the hills cousin. I live a hop and skip away from the Boro, when you do go make sure to stop by the Outpost Armory. It's a store that belongs to Ronnie Barrett and is awesome as one would expect from the owner of Barrett. Hell, the bathroom mirrors have the ends of .50 shells covering the wood screws, haha. Gatlinburg has a TON of stuff to offer and I believe you will enjoy yourself. I love eating at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. and I love making a stop to what my friends and I refer to as the 'pipe shop', it's a tobacco aficionado store, where I picked up my first pipe from which was made of a African porous wood, allows for better heat transfer into the wood rather than what you take in.

C'mon folks, a backwoods hick like me can't understand or identify with any of these Michigan places!

Give it to me in terms I can relate to! Every single flatlander and yooper in Michigan carries his own roadmap-- so let's see it!

And welcome to TGO, hendo2a!
