Planning to go to SD to shoot prairie dogs this summer in June... Anyone on here been before & have any recommendations or first hand information available on guides? I was thinking a semi guided hunt... fully guided is a option but mainly just want to have someone put us in an area where the dogs are within a 1,000 yd. range.... I would appreciate any input!

I'm quite jealous. I lived in South Dakota for 8 years when I was a kid. It is some of the most beautiful country you will ever see. South Dakota is one of the few places I would willingly leave TN for.

I'm planning to take several rifles to shoot while I'm there including the one pictured above. It has a 23" Stainless Lilja 1-8 twist .223 Wylde chambered barrel with a Nightforce 5.5x22x50 scope on top. I shoot Berger 80 gr. VLDs loaded with 20.6 g Vihtavuori N133 out of this one.

I would say bring lots of ammo.

I have been trying to get 100-200 rounds reloaded every weekend in preparation.......................

I've always wanted to do that

Me too! That's why I finally decided to break down & pull the trigger on it. Going to be a long drive but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I've got a friend that does this every once in a while. Not sure where he goes, but I think it's on an indian reservation. They use supressors to keep from having to wear muffs all day. It's always sounded like a lot of fun.

Have you tried PETA I hear they have a lot of information.

I can't believe I didn't think of that? I'll be sure to hit their website up tonight & see if they have any good information available there. If not I guess I will just call & see if a real person at their HQ has some good info................

Been wanting to go on a dog shoot for years.  Thing is I work seasonally and my work season coincides with when the dogs are most active.  My dad has been wanting to go for years as well, he's never been much of a hunter, more of a shooter so I never really got to hunt with him much.  I would love to take a week, even if I did have to skip some work to take dad while I still have the opportunity.
