Brass prices?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I have a bunch (probably 2000) rounds of federal brass .223 once fired. What should I ask for it? I would also be open to trades in other calibers.

I know prices are crazy now so that's why I ask.

Thanks for any actual practical input and not just ranting about ammo prices!

The price has went up a little over the last few months but since reloading supplies are harder to come by than loaded ammunition no one is buying brass unless it is something expensive to buy. A reasonable price for a buyer and seller as of today is about $3/lbs which is about 70 pcs. Less for military crimped. If it is all the same headstamp and clean brass it could go for $5/lbs that assumes someone even wants it. Loaded .223 has been reappearing and there is little to no cost savings in loading .223. Someone may change it into 300 blackout though. Edited by Patton

I don't generally spend much if anything on .223 or .308 brass b/c it's so plentiful, I picked up 1k rounds off the ground last time I went to the range before I got tired of picking it up. If I were I'd venture $50 per 1k would be fair if it's clean.

Now if you have brass for 300 savage or 6.8 spc then I would pay a much higher price b/c I can't generally find those littering the ground at the local range.

It's not worth a penny on these forums. This thread really needs to be deleted.

I'm glad you renewed your membership. Having previously made only two posts in the last four years I hope you understand why others might have thought you were trying to sell/trade without having to renew. Thanks for being understanding! :)

Anyone in the Murfreesboro area have any .357 Mag brass for sale/trade? New caliber I've recently acquired in a rifle, and haven't been able to find any reasonably priced loaded ammo... to build up some brass from. Any help is greatly appreciated. Spent lots of time at WM, with no luck. Thanks.
