I said I wouldn't do it...

I said I would not get into ARs blah blah blah... now I have a Daniel Defense V7 on the way, 5.56.  I am so excited and so very green when it comes to these types of guns.  What really sold me is I did not want a composite lower, the modular rail seemed very appealing, and it feels good to hold.  The actual gun I looked at today was one of the co-workers weapons on display.  I don't even know how to take it apart, as of now, but will watch videos to kind of learn.

The accessories I was looking at:

foregrip

aim point RDS with the base and quick disconnect (I think all of this information is correct or the right terminology, correct me if wrong)

flip up sights (haven't looked at brands)

Any other information/tips would be great!

Cheers!

That's a good one, congrats on the new addition. Every man should own an AR just like the old times where everyone had a BP rifle.

I have a Daniel Defense vertical forward grip that I would sell you if you are looking for one. PM if you are interested. It just sits in the safe.

I have the same rifle but put a Samson Evolution tube on it and prefer minimal rails.

It isn't so much the number as it is how quickly they are bought.

It is almost like you are a binge AR buyer.

I tend to attack new interests with vigor ... but fading some now. :)

Hard to stay too gung ho when I'm looking toward the end of my shootin' hoard, too, dammit.

The .22LR upper will be getting the most workout for a while, that's for sure.

Congrats!

I have a DD V7 LW :)  Love the rail & how modular it is.

I've been busy dressing my SCAR 17 (which accessories are way more expensive for) but will soon get to dressing my V7 LW :)

Again, congrats, and let us know how she shoots! :)

  • 1 month later...

Well I had a major delay of posting pictures and doing anything with the rifle from graduation and getting ready to move to Columbia, SC for my job...

Anyway, here she is, finally (Which it is the LW version and I did not include that in my first post).  With magpul fore grip, Daniel Defense front sight (fixed), and Knights Armament rear flip up.  I love the way this gun feels with the grip and can not wait to go shooting with it this weekend/early next week.  I will be sighting it in and buying an optic.  Which that is still up in the air, between the Aimpoint RDS and the EoTech.  I really want quick disconnects and I found out some EoTechs have them.

Nice.  Depending on how you shoot, you might want to see if you can move that forward grip back just a bit.  You're probably going to want to be able to support the rifle without you hand necessarily contacting the barrel.

Congratulations on graduation and a job.  Those are exciting times!

Yes very exciting and busy times (I hear it gets worse haha!).  Yeah I was not too sure of where to put the fore grip, this does feel comfortable where it is but I am going to try moving it around and see what suits me best.

Most people use a foregrip for more of a reference point than an actual grip.  That's why the angled grips have become so popular.

I think I know what you mean... I know I'm not going to be using the fore grip as a "grip" but will be using it to triangulate and feel balanced (I believe this is what you meant, I apologized this is a very new field for me).  I tried the angled grip it was not as comfortable for me.  Some friends of mine swear by them though.

Do you use optics on yours or iron sights?  Any input here?  Thanks!

Just a note, any sight or scope can be a quick disconnect with a QD riser or scope mounts. Often need the extra height to clear flip down rear sight or co-index anyway.

I run QD mounts for conventional scopes on two of my ARs:
