Holster: Stealth Gear USA

I haven't been carrying for very long and so far have been keeping my PPS tucked away IWB in one of those neoprene sleeves while I searched for a holster. I wasn't finding anything in any of the stores I was happy with mostly because with the leather so many of them were starting to look so thick which kind of defeated the purpose of buying a thin gun.... and that's if I could even find one for the PPS. The idea of leather and the up-coming summer months also seemed like a recipe for swamp conditions in my pants.

There is a long thread on the Walther Forums about holsters for the PPS and somebody linked www.stealthgearusa.com which was new. Could only find a couple of forum posts about them, but I liked the idea. Granted, it's a bit pricey, but with all the talk people have about drawers full of holsters I figured I could be a guinea pig as it seemed to fit most of my needs (sized for my gun, breathable, thin... just don't know how it rides).

Anyway, I'll post my thoughts when I get it in a few weeks, but thought I'd share if anyone else was interested since it was a bit different.

I use, love and suggest a Crossbred Supertuck! I just looked and it appears to me that they have one for a Walther PPS. I will tell you how much I love it - I was working on my kitchen sink one day and had to go pick up some supplies, so I carried (as usual) my full sized M&P .45 - I got home, crawled under the sink and was working on it for a bit, when I rolled over to hear a THUMP! It was then I realized that I hadn't taken the gun off. It IS comfortable!

The style of the Stealth Gear holsters is the same as the Crossbreed, King Tuck, Comp-Tac, etc. It's a superb design for IWB. It distributes the load, retains the gun very well, disappears under an untucked shirt, and is comfortable enough for all day.

My concern is the fabric Stealth Gear uses. Being "breathable" sounds like a good idea until you realize that sweat is going to now be able to come in contact with your gun. That's one of the good selling points of the leather/kydex hybrid holsters like Crossbreed. The leather acts as a sweat barrier to protect your gun. Edited by BigK

Hard to beat tried and true leather.  Easier on firearm finish than kydex and molds to your body for comfort.  I am perhaps a biased source but I have leaned this way from experience.  I will only carry what is best for me and my firearm.  Humidity and perspiration during IWB carry is exacerbated during summer temps.  Consider OWB as an alternative.  Yes it does require an un-tucked shirt but so does IWB to an extent.  Also if you end up buying something that does not work, don't feel bad, we've all been there.  I have a box full of holsters that sit unused.  Everyone is different and comfort and function is very individual.  Use what works for you.

I'd argue that most kydex is easier on a finish than leather. Leather tends to hold dirt grit and crud that can damage a finish more than regular kydex. Also if it's an IWB it doesn't get funky after you sweated in it.
