Looking for a .308

RC3

Recommended Posts

I want to try a AR in 308. My FNAR 308 in 20" heavy fluted barrel is very accurate and I bought to shoot at longer than 100 yds, but I have not found a good place offering upto 600 yds. I've decided to shoot mostly at 100 yds and I want a lighter 308. Hope someone wants a longer barr and accuraqte FNAR for long range.

Seems a few days early for that. Usually it is right after Christmas after everyone gets their new toys and looks for something like TGO. The new folks read back a long ways and get excited about old threads...

Not throwing stones, pretty sure I did it to...

My next 308 will be a semi-automatic and for the price I may be going with a Sig since they are significantly cheaper.  Plus, Sigs have never disappointed me.  I'm looking at a Sig 716 Patrol model in FDE with a 16" barrel.  I also have a custom made bolt action w/ a 24" barrel if accuracy or distance is a concern with a 16" barrel.

+1 for the M1A.

They are nice guns.

I've owned DSA FAL, Cetme G3 clone, SCAR 17.  The DSA FAL was the best "cheap" .308.  The Cetme was very cheap but not the quality that I was looking for.

As others have said, nothing can compare to the SCAR 17 when it comes to semi-auto .308.  It's based (loosely) on the AR platform but seems more like a combination of all the best of AR, AK, and FAL features in one rifle.

I've owned DSA FAL, Cetme G3 clone which is actually the predecessor to the G3 which H&K hired the primary engineers to make said G3, SCAR 17.  The DSA FAL was the best "cheap" .308.  The Cetme was very cheap but not the quality that I was looking for.

FTFY. ;)  lmao

Century stuff never seems to be up to par for the most part but they might regain my business if these Yugo O-PAP and N-PAP AK's are any account.
