USING your CCW gun

Recommended Posts

I've seen other threads dance around this question, but i want to know, who, if anyone, has had to use their weapon? Drawn? Fired? Hit?

I'm wondering because lately I've been training with an ex-ARMY Ranger buddy of mine, learning more than I ever thought possible. I just can't help but think that if something happened, and I couldn't avoid the situation, if I had to draw and fire...what if I froze? I know a BG likely doesn't have the training, but they certainly won't have any moral qualms about shooting me or anyone else.

So, does anyone have any advice on preparing for a scenario like that? Or experience? If you've had to fire at a BG, what was the aftermath like? I know the legal possibilities fairly well, but I don't know what would come emotionally.

Anyway, I hopefully will never encounter this, but just in case, I'd like to be prepared. Thanks.

There was a thread on this awhile back. I'd suggest searching for it. You'll never really know what you'll do until you have to make that split second decision to end a life. I suggest going somewhere quiet and contemplating what makes life worth living to you. Think long and hard about what you can live with. I think anyone who carries a gun has made the decision that their life outweighs anyone else's life that would try and do them harm.

You're probably not going to get alot of open responses from people about when how and where they took a life. Even if you're right, it takes something away from you that you can never get back and that can be hard to talk about to anyone, especially a stranger on an open forum.

This is the best advise that you can go by.

nah, i'm certainly not asking for specifics on who shot who, when and where etc. i or anyone else doesn't need to know. i'm just looking for pointers on how to be more prepared, or any other info.

and punisher, i'm still looking for that other thread. thanks.

As some friends of mine recently discussed this subject, you might want to carry the number of a lawyer you would want to use in the case you have to use deadly force, because chances are, you will likely need legal representation.
