Fertilizer plant blows up in Texas

First reports made it sound like it was attacked. Is this what things have come to, everything is an attack until proven otherwise. It is a very sad situation and I think the media should treat it like that until it is proven to be an attack.

Remind me to never park so close to a burning fertilizer plant with my kid(s) in the vehicle while filming a fire.

+1  What an idiot..... I grew up in North Texas and those folks are tough and resilient. My prayers go out for them.

Kevin, get real man! I KNOW you have more common sense than that!

The flames went from 300 yards away to 30 yards in half a second.

Good thing him and his daughter were ok.

That was an unbelievable explosion.  The 20 yr anniversary of the Branch Davidian mess is Friday.  Coincidence?  :tinfoil:

A bigger (...but very similar...) ammonium nitrate explosion happened at the port of Texas City, TX.  There must be something about water and burning ammonium nitrate in large quantities that touches off the explosions.  Check this link here for the Texas City report: http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files/pdf/texascity.pdf

Ammonium nitrate is powerful stuff.  Our prayers go out to the affected families.
